I may have posted these pics already, but it has been on my mind as I eagerly count down the days to my big trip this summer. One of the reasons that I like week long trips is that it gives me time to truly decompress, away from everything. And I plan my days so that I have plenty of time at the end of the day to explore, or sit and watch the sun go down. I try to plan it so that I am in a good location at the end of the day so that my campsite offers some exceptional scenery for this. Here are my campsites on my big trip last year.
First night at Bearpaw Meadow, in the white fir forest

Second night in Deadman Canyon

Not immediately visible in those pics from Deadman Canyon, if you go just a few paces to the left of the trees in the first picture, I took this after dinner as the sun went down:

Third night, on the shoulder of the Whaleback above Cloud Canyon

From that camp as the sun went down:

Fourth night at Gallats Lake

Fifth night at the lowest lake on Picket Creek (Sarah's Lake)

View from camp as the sun went down

Sixth night in Kaweah Basin

From camp looking east as the sun went down

Seventh night in Nine Lake Basin

And finally, eighth night, completing the loop, back at Bearpaw Meadow

This year's trip promises to be a good one...I still have room on my permit if you are up to it.
