I ground the first waterjetted M-18 today. I don't know what to think of it. Visually, you cant tell the hand cut ones from the water jetted ones. The problem is. In order for me to purchase a piece of 01 big enough to accommodate 30 M-18s it was so big that it was impossible to get precision ground. the M-18s are .250 thick. the waterjetted ones are .280. I didn't know how big of a difference it would make until I made one. so I ground it and it is obviously physically different. Seems to throw off the balance a little. Hmmmm. what to do what to do. I may have to surface grind everyone of them .030.

Make it snappy, I got good news. I was going to say something for you to try out, look at, give a whirl, etc... but none of those would escape the uncouth reprobates that populate this place without some form of witticism.

Backing up all my files, to transfer to another computer. I had so many duplicate photos, it wasn't funny. After I got it all cleaned up, I have 17,667 photos. Damn.

Nope, that's the chinese one. 1066vik has one though, and they work great from what I remember him saying.

Yeah I have one of those. Works great!
No complaints. I've used it a handfull of times with great results.

Im going to grab one. I dont have any fuel cans for it but that price is crazy cheap so ill just pack it away for later.

Wally sells the fuel cans for $5-6.
OTOH, this is what I've been doing for the past several hours (and part of yesterday evening)
big picture alert
birch bark is interesting stuff - leaves an almost rubbery feeling on your hands.
finished up an unfinished but HT'd Camillus knife blank with stacked bark for the handle -- faked together a pommel out of some scrap brass and black oak I had laying around and a piece of 1/4" aluminum rod for a pin.
dunked the handle in Danish Oil and it's currently out in the sun drying.

to some people, a bag of fatwood is just a bag of blue meth...

and to most people, it's a bag of kindling / firewood "look, they got more than they need, we'll borrow some"...

that they return "wood"... nice of them and all :D

next time: sleep with your damn crack wood?

when i'm camping, i don't leave nothing out, because i've had too many wood gypsy hippy dippy shitheads "borrow" stuff, as if socialism were a thing... someday, they'll find that guy who took my chair. then i'll have words with him ;)
