Im not usually over at this forum a lot but 6 months ago in the general disucssion fourm I asked about a really good edc knife with a pocket clip. after multiple suggestions I settled on spydery co. And after I got my first endura in pe and VG-10 I loved it and got a few more. So last weeK I bought another endura pe vg-10 brand new and love it by the way. while working on my snowmobile yesterday (superbowl sunday) before the bowl so Id be home in plenty of time for the game I pulled out the knife for the first time and began to work on cutting a piece off the hyfax when the blade slipped and got my thumb nothin major a little band aid action and I was back to cutting.very next cut it was somewhat more serious. after 4 hours in the ER and 10 stiches and a cut tendon and the nerve being completely destroyed I had to share with you guys. Now im almost thirty and have been carrying a knife since I was 10 and this was my first serious accident. A dont believe any other knife would have done this kinda damage just proving how good the spydes are and how sharp they are out of the box LOL just thought you guys would get a kick out of the pics. Now back to the hunt for more spydes.

Ouch.

Hope it heals fast and glad to see your not mad at Sal or some other silliness ;):D.

i know you don't expect someone to say this but.....you should consider yourself extremely lucky, if you would have cut your thumb that bad, and it being your right hand which i assume is your dominant hand, you would be in a world of trouble in your daily life....i caught my thumb in a hay elevator once and really didn't use my whole hand for 4 months

Nice one gradall!! Too bad the cut is in the crease where your finger meets the palm. Now the scar won't show up enough!!:D You can't impress the ladies without a good ragged scar:eek:

Seriously, hope it heals quick. OUCH!

Ouch!! Good thing God put a bone in the middle of that thing or it would be gone!:eek:

I have to ask, because it's a requirement around here: Is the knife okay?:D

At least it was a sharp blade, so it should heal up rather quickly, but how exactly did you do that? Were you cutting into your hand? My Grandfather used to cut toward his palm when sectioning apples...

Yes the knife is fine!! thank god!! I relly dont know how it happened I guess I was cutting toward myself but It happend so fast I dont remember kinda like a shock thing for 1 minnute or something I just know It went completely numb instantly and still is 24 hrs later and have a feeling it aint coming back. supposed to see a surgeon today or tomorrow to see if they can fix it.-Joel

Wow, I bet you can't cut yourself that cleanly or accurately (the cut follows the joint perfectly!) again even if you tried!

Ahem, I mean, hope it heals OK! :D

ahhh sorry to hear that man get better soon! ive had a similar situation happen to me with a balisong...i guess its inevitable

Yeah sorry to hear that man. I just spent three hours in the er the sunday before you too. I hate to see that man. I just sliced the outside of the thumb from knuckle to tip. Thankfully the skin was still there so it was just flapped back over and left to heal. I cant imagine what it feels like to not know if your going to have feeling in your finger again.

Wow, nasty cut there. I hope you didn't loose too much feeling in that finger.

Get better quick.
God bless.

Sorry to hear that! I can sympathize with some of your pain. I'm 38. Been carrying a knife since age 4 (yes, 4). Ive been cut (not by myself). Stabbed by a Deutsch Messer nicker (German knife, nicker) in the thigh. Lost a finger tip by a boker sidelock switchblade, while living in Wiesbaden, Deutschland. Almost lost a finger to a kershaw shallot. have quite a few scars, etc.

etc. etc. etc. Won't list them all. But I understand!

..And been making knives (off and on) for over 24 years, so that explains some of it.

Will be praying your finger heals okay!

The Lord bless you!!

Sincerely in Christ's love,
John

hope it heals quick... i've also had some "growing pains" that build up respect to sharp edges very quickly :)

YaaaR! Vicious wound.....lose MUCH BLOOD???

Good picture there, you must work in pathology....

Just hope you learned to be more aware of where that knife will go if you loose control of the cut. I've nipped myself a couple times and once had a pretty bad cut right at the web between the thumb and finger. After that I became far more cautious about what I was doing :foot:

Those of us who sometimes operate on the edge of safety practices hopefully will get the point from your injury. Looks painful - keep it clean and dry.

Ouch thats brutal!! I hope it heals well.

And to think just the other day I was whining to myself about a cut my waved Endura gave me, it took 2 hours of pressure to stop the bleeding but its nowhere near as bad as that one. I just hate finger cuts since I'm a mechanic and I'm always ripping them open again before they can fully heal.:grumpy:
