How about Chulainn
Name of a demigod of Irish mythology who with his bare hands as a kid killed the fierce guard dog of the smith Culann, then became the personal guard, or hound, of Culann.

When you get up with a hangover, and take another dose of what bit ya, it's called "Hair of the Dog".

A double-bite. Hair of the Dog (HOTD).

Gladius is a Latin word meaning "sword", but in its narrow sense it refers to the sword of ancient Roman foot soldiers.
The Roman foot soldier was called a miles gregarius. This was the common soldier, comparable to the preset day rank of private.

Miles Gregarius

The Witch Dog 15

"They have been known to hunt and kill cobras and will not shy down from other animals that would typically send folks running.
When a captive or “pet” Witch Dog gets loose, it can (or will) kill any other animals that may cross its path. Cats, dogs, livestock, poultry, or anything else that it views as prey will be killed and if possible, consumed- particularly if there’s more than one Asong Gubat set loose.
They are a breed that can climb trees to hunt down prey, climb walls to overcome hurdles
Some describe them as ruthless, crazy (in a bad sense), headstrong, and wildly independent.
the Lumad people have traditionally viewed this dog as more of a spiritual being than a wild dog
