The new ZT should make a lot of people happy.

Not interested. I wonder if a reintroduction of the 0300 is next.

I like it, but I have at least a dozen knives that could do something similar.

Honestly, I would be fine with an 0180 with a kydex sheath.

the 0180 is pretty cool, but not easy to find! I don’t have much use for fixed blades but I’ve been tempted by that a few times. I think if this new one sticks around for a while I might get it just to have a badass fixed blade for when I eventually need it

I like the looks of it, though I'm unlikely to buy one. Handle doesn't look all that comfy or secure. Too many better options at or below that price point for me. I would be getting one of the Golik's he just posted up before paying for that ZT and still have money to spare. Heat treat is probably better too, as handmades usually are.

Still, I applaud the effort. They could've done a lot of good with a slight flare to the but of the handle like an F1.

Gimping on the spine in front of the guard is an interesting feature.

Here’s some solid examples of knives in that price range, that don’t have clear Cerakote on their blades.
These things rock and are what I think of for that $$.

That ZT is just darn ugly with crap ergos.

I think it’s nice to see ZT doing fixed blades again, but the handle on this one looks horrible. Hopefully they revisit some of their older fixed offerings. A 0170 in 3v would be awesome.

I’m gonna say I’m a little disappointed that they used 3v. I guess they haven’t always used interesting steels but the vanadis 4 in the 0180 and tomahawk were at least interesting. I’m gonna buy one because I have all the fixed blades and tools, but I doubt I buy a second to use. I have users in the 0100, 0180, and JB1. Those first two are really the best of the fixed blades, along with the 0121 that I just never ended up getting a second one of.

I just happened to find one at Spark's shop a fee years ago. It had been out of production for at least a couple of years, but he had one kicking around. I didn't pay anywhere NEAR what this one knife is commanding.

Super solid if a tad heavy for its size. It's a nice knife except for the garbage sheath. I ended up making a new one for it, but I always end up packing something of the same size and lighter or larger and clocking in at the same weight. The thing is a tank.

I would be all on with the new blade shape if they guard was more subdued and built into the steel itself....and it was $100 cheaper.

I'm a bit jaded by ZT in terms of fit and style for a few years now.

There’s something visual about the sheath I just don’t like. I would expect something better than that at the price. Maybe molded better or a better belt attachment.

Ive had a few 180s that I sold. I regret it now. Mostly due to the sheath, but I should have had one made. Vanadis 4E is some good stuff, and it’s a good utilitarian design.

I'm sorry, have you actually held one? Genuinely curious.
This is a pretty common rebuttal, to a lot of knife guys they can just see how bad a knife’s ergonomics are by looking at them. The only thing that might be harder to grasp would be contouring, chamfering, and how the knife feels under heavy use.

And I was responding to a pretty common hater type statement.

Like the return to "hard use" roots of ZT , but the design is lazily generic and uninspired .

Guess this is why knife companies don't always listen to knife people?
We've been asking for getting back to "hard use" roots of brand.
We've ask for steel that is tough.
There have been complaints about handles designed for "weird alien hands", with a call to neutral handle ergonomics.

So out comes a knife that shows they listened to us at least a bit, and still people complain. :D

I would like the handle to be an inch longer and don't need the coating on the blade, but it still looks good to me.

As to getting a knife with exactly what I want in it, I can literally make my own.
I don't need to design it and have someone else do it, or compromise on my "vision" of what a knife should be, but I still want this.

Granted, given my hours at work lately this better stay in production for a couple of years so I can save up cash to get it...

does not look to me like a $300+ fixed blade. $200-$250 I might think buying. Should just redo the bulldog-like 0121 with an upgraded steel.
