The next level, a shoutout

Thanks for all the input guys!

I would probably want a different bolster material, but that thing definitely looks ready for primetime! Well done, Josh!

I am thinking that through now - for future builds. It will be more basic than this, this was more of a one off 'do it just cause' type of thing haha. probably going to go w/ regular ti bolsters, not sure what to do on the lower half but something "grippy" but different.

I like the fuller and the way it plays against the asymmetry in the compound grind. It looks great. It's also an easy to replicate design feature should you want to have a "signature" in the design language of future creations.

Thanks Bryce, I wanted something different than the typical spear/drop point - and that it is!

Gingham micarta. I'll buy 2.

Amazing work, absolutely love the handle. I am not a big fan of that blade shape, your grinds look perfectly symmetric and I am sure it took insane amount of practice to do it. Any plans for something more standard? I would love to see it with compound ground clip-point blade.

Don't send me that thing for sharpening though. :p Compound recurve tanto thing + DLC sounds like dangerous territory.

I know right, it wasn't fun to sharpen. The initial edge I set on my belt grinder which wasn't too bad, but the Wicked Edge struggles on the recurve portion. I am planning on making some custom, curved face paddles in the near future to give perfect edges when it comes to this!

Not familiar w/ that material? Can you post a link or explain more? I've used Dylan Comb's (Shadetree Combosites) stuff before (in these coconut fiber scales) and it's really good - I was impressed. I'm thinking about picking something from him.

Any plans to do runs of these, Josh?

I am wanting to move forward into both mid-tech and customs at some point in the future. Not when it will happen though as that's a significant investment of both time and $$.

Yes the grind took a long time for sure, but it was totally worth it! Yes I am totally wanting to do some more standard blade shapes w/ some tweaks that no everyone can do. hard to come up w/ these days though ;)

It doesn't exist as far as I know. I've just always wanted some scales made out of green Gingham patterned linen micarta.

That is awesome Josh! I've followed along with great interest over the years as your mods got more and more involved (especially when you started doing entire blade replacements). It got to the point where you were basically making your own custom version of every individual piece of a given knife (and it became a sort of Ship of Theseus paradox as to whether it was even the original knife any more). I was always wondering if you'd start making your own designs. Keep up the amazing work!

So I just hit a mile marker in my business, something I have always dreamed of since starting to sharpen back in 2010. I have always wanted to build a folder. Some of you may know from following my WIP story on Instagram how this folder has been coming together... but just the other day that dream was finalized as I got my blade back from DLC.

So I wanted to give a shoutout and big THANK YOU to all of you guys out there who have supported me throughout the years by either allowing me to work on your knife or the referrals and recommendations you gave to others. It would not have been possible without you all. I'm looking forward to taking it to the next level in the future and putting more builds together as I continue to work on you all's knives =)

Your talent is incredible Josh, I was always surprised I didn't see something like this sooner with those amazing skills you have. Way to go brother.

Josh, that is totally ridiculous. Don't you know that a guy's first folder is supposed to look like crap? How are you supposed to "improve" when your work looks so darned beautiful?
VERY impressed, sir. Yes, you've done great custom work for me on several occasions, so I suppose that I shouldn't be so surprised, but gosh, that is something else. Good for you, friend.
Don
