It was a journey to finally get one! Definitely surprised these are discontinued but sort of exciting because you know they wouldn't discontinue such an incredible knife without something in the oven to replace it. Either way, here it is in all its glory!

I'm gonna be the boring prosaic bean counter. In the video Nathan mentions the new CPK's Basic FK will be $50 cheaper than the prior FK2 version which had the chamfering, jumping and the skeletonized handles but we are getting a slightly longer CPM-3V in the Delta HT. Doing the math, the original UFK (Utility Field Knife) was $297 ($285 + 12 for shipping) and then CPK increased prices by $10 because some people b*tched and moaned about the basic finish which showed more of the tooling marks (looking at the mirror) making the FK2 $$307 out the door. So whether Nathan is going to price this ~ 247 or ~257 OTD, this means that he's presenting to the market a more basic CPK Field Knife very close the the price of the current Kephart which they are also offering close to the mid 200's. This is really, really an excellent feat. Very well done CPK :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I think, in the case of the FK2, the price had been bumped from your last data point another $10. When I purchased mine recently it came out to $338 shipped, (base price of $305 plus $20 for the burlap micarta scales, plus $13 for shipping). So, your projection of where the "Basic" will be priced may be slightly off.

For sure the Kephart I received the other day was $288...($250 base price, $25 for the walnut scales, $13 shipping).

In any case, the value is there, imho...regardless of the minor differences of a few dollars this way or that. Those who get this knife in their hands should be well pleased. (I'd be an awful bean counter. LOL.)

Unfortunately, the popsicle sticks are gone. The best way to get the fancier scales is to get in on the preorder. We usually try to make a few extra, but not many and they usually go fast. The Antique micarta is also gone.

Sometimes some of the first sales will move briskly on a new pattern but we'll have another sale in another two weeks and I'm sure It won't be too bad.

I would say, no. If you're more that a few seconds late you probably will not get a BFK this time. You can ask for a proxy and maybe one of the really fast guys may get one for you. Just go to the proxy thread and ask for a proxy.

I wasn’t sure if the guys who love the fancy and rare stuff who have a fast system in place would be interested in these most basic models. I almost wondered if Nathan was trying to make something less appealing to the regulars.
 
quick question guys... how do i know exactly (to the second) when is 5PM? Google time? Or dors the forum has like an "official" clock of some sort?

hehe you can imagine I am really looking forward to buying in this sale :)
