Mike Sastre does GREAT work -- I love the CF-pattern kydex sheaths he's done for me. First rate.

That said, I've been waiting 6 months now for my Murray Carter knife back, as well as the new sheath and some misc bits I pre-paid for.

Mike, if you're out there, I've sent you numerous e-mails and even talked to you on the phone. I want my knife back and the rest of my order, or my $70.

Mike

Mike,
I can sympathize with you. Let me start by saying that Mike is a very nice guy and does wonderful concealex sheaths, (as you know). I did a lot of business with him starting years ago when he first came onboard these forums, (when he wasn't all that busy). I have many sheaths Mike made for me and like them a lot. Mike is now very busy doing a lot of work for manufacturers, dealers and makers and goes to a lot of shows. Now, I'm not defending him here but I warned folks a long time ago that if you're going to order sheaths from him, be prepared to wait a goodly amount of time and also wait for answers to e-mails.

My last order from Mike took several months to complete after being told they would be expedited. I chose not to deal with River City Sheaths any longer because of the extremely long lead times. Like I said, I'm not critiquing Mike or his work, (as you), it's just that a several month wait for a concealex sheath is not for me any longer. If folks want to wait that long for a nice sheath that is fine.

I am in NO WAY trying to start anything here, just stating facts. Good luck.

Boy ,,!! I thought it was just me he wasn't
responding to. I sent him numerous Email's
to get him to make me a "necker" for my Fred
Perrin. NEVER got a response.. !!
I have two sheath's he made for a Crawford
French folder, they are excellent, thought I
would order one for my Perrin LaGriffe.
Any body out there have a tactical sheath
maker he can recomend ???????????????

dogbite: Check with Eric at Normark. His email address is ericn@mnsi.net

I have only had one sheath made by Eric buy he was great to deal with and a heck of a nice guy.

I cannot say anything about Mike Sastre, as I have never delt with him. But as an alternative, contact Eric.

Mike Sastre turned my knife with a Southern Comfort Sheath around in reasonable time...he returned my calls and e-mails as well. I have not found him to be unaccessbile or misleading.

While Michael_Aos' experience is certainly different and probably worthy of his post with included request, I submit my thoughts to this thread to simply to share my experience about Mike Sastre, who I have met, like, and respect.

Sorry to hear about this situation and I hope it can be remedied quickly, with an update about its resolution, posted here.

I have never ordered a sheath from mike, but wanted to comment to Andy about his good service. YOu think the fact that you are like the "tomahawk" god might have something to do with your good service? :D

Hey Mike...

You and I have done business before, so I hope I've earned a little respect with you and would like to offer a possible explanation, and character reference and ask you to hang in there and I'm Absolutely positive Mike will get things straightened out.

Mike and I have gotten to know each other a little in the last while, and I truely believe that he is an honest straight shooting person, a hell of a nice guy and a very talented sheath-maker.

I'm not going to guess on what has happened,, but I will say this.... If Mike is as busy I'm right now, he is probably near drowning in Concealex in his shop and is feverishly trying to figure out what side is up.

I'm just coming out of one of those periods of too much work in a 14 hour day, so I Understand all too well the word Overload.

This is a very demanding business, dealing with customers ,keeping everyone happy as much as possible, while still putting in computer/show/shop time..There just isn't enough time in the day to get everything done,, not to mention spending time with the family...
I've had to cancel my trip to Blade this year because of the workload..:( Bummer...

Mike A..If I may ask a personal favor, and I hope I'm not out of line in asking,, but just hang in there a little longer, Mike will take care of you...

Mike S. you Crazy ole coot..:)

If there is Absolutely!! Anything I can help you with, Please let me know, I will do my best to help...

ttyle

Eric...

I sent Mike my Busse ZT NO and CG BM in October 2001 with an estimat of 2 to 3 weeks to complete, and still have not got my sheats 8 months later. No return of my last two phone calls. The last time I talked to him in Febuary hea said he was busy but that the NO was done. Mike if your reading this, could you at least send me the NO? The Busses are my favourite knives but you have had the NO longer that I have...

If you want a Sastre sheath for a Spyderco, Call the SFO "Spyderco Factory Outlet" They keep many of them in stock. Trust me it's lot's faster.

I have dealt with RCS for a few years now. I am sorry to hear there are some unhappy customers. As a reference for Mike S. I know he is a good guy and will take care of you. I can sympathize, being without knives is like being cut off from sex .... :(

For info Lifter {Dave] has started to turn out some real fine custom folder sheaths. Find him on this or most other forums. Mike

Right at about 8 months.

I'm not sure I'll say it was "worth the wait", but it's a DAMN nice sheath!

Very happy with it.

That IS a VERY nice-looking sheath, but 8 months???..

What'd he do; Make the knife too???...And maybe grow the tree that the handle is made out of???
