I'm a big fan of Nutnfancy, and given the number of hits he gets on youtube, I'm not alone. I like his subject matter, his delivery and his Type A personality.

I thought I'd do a little recon on who this guy allegedly is.

The following are merely internet rumors, and their veracity is open to debate. I did find at least one news article from 2005 where the individual at issue had a dog with the same name (Allie) as the dog shown on some of Nutnfancy's videos, so there is at least a small factual nexus between Nutnfancy and the named individual.

Additionally, I have not linked to these sites because some contain language and graphics which are not G-rated. There are some genuinely funny parodies of Nutnfancy out there as well. You can easily Google this stuff on your own using the information set out below.

The claims:

- Nutnfancy's real name is [removed at the request of a moderator], of [removed at the request of a moderator]. Age appoximately [removed at the request of a moderator].

- is not a sworn LEO and has no arrest powers.

- member of the [removed at the request of a moderator]

- license plate number and street address given, and a picture of his house is posted. You'll have to find those on your own, but its not difficult.

- The name of [removed at the request of a moderator], who is a [removed at the request of a moderator], and who has a dog which shares the name of Nutnfancy's dog, was the subject of this [removed at the request of a moderator] 2005 news article about 2 men who survived an avalanche while camping.

- one source with google adsense estimates that he generates between [removed at the request of a moderator] per month in ad revenue from youtube.

Nutnfancy seems to produce an inordinate amount of haters, but I guess that comes with the territory when you plaster yourself on youtube - and are good at it. His strange but interesting persona of warrior/nerd engenders this kind of stuff too, I guess.

But as I say, I like the guy and what he does. He's passionate about many of the same things that I dig, and as far as I'm concerned, he seems to be living the good life. If he really is driving planes and making money from making knife reviews, then good for him.

I'm a fan too. Many of his reviews are all the more valuable to me because much of the gear and 'tactics' he reviews are simply unavailable where I live.

I wonder if the revenue numbers are true....can one really generate that much from ads these days?

He's a pretty cool dude. Like his videos, he's got some good info. When I want to find out something about a particular knife I look up his videos.

I liked him in the beginning, now his video's are way too long and he always rambles about how cool he is.
I'll take cutlerylover, he make's good video's.

I'll watch his vids sometimes, it usually ends up with me wanting to shoot myself.

I think it is feasible. On one of my older channels I just got adsense a couple months ago (don't even plan on updating it) and I've still made a few hundred bucks. Not a large figure, but with 2 vids and fewer views per vid that's not bad.

I still like him but his vids are getting somewhat long. I"ve noticed he will spend 5 minutes just on an intro. but i still watch some of his videos.

I watch his videos. They are too long. His vocabulary can be annoying. I don't always agree with him. I like them slightly more than I dislike them so I keep watching them. It's cheap entertainment that deals with hobbies that interest me.

I just don't understand the haters though. Why don't they save themselves a coronary and turn the internets off?

Like him or hate him I think it's silly that people go out of their way to post this guy's personal info on the internet. People who feel the need to do this are placing WAY more importance on nutnfancy than there should be.

I like his reviews, and I like his presentation style, but I feel most of the reviews are too long. He usually hits the salient points very well, but could do it in five minutes rather than 10, 15, or 20 minutes.

I've been unable to determine which airline he is employed by, but he holds type ratings in the Boeing 707 (most likely for his tanker), Boeing 727 and Boeing 737. He also only has a Private Pilot Single Engine rating (but an ATP for the multi-engine), which would indicate all his training was through the military. That information, combined with the Utah address, leads me to put my money on Delta.

Personally I find him to be a little too much on the douchebag side of the fence for me, but that's why I don't watch.

I'll watch some of his vids, but they are painfully long. He spends just as much time leafing through company catologues as he does reviewing the actual knife, and he gets sidetracked way too much. His "purpose of use" bits and over-use of the word "tactical" gets annoying, but at the end of the video, he's done a good, thorough review of the knife.

What I don't like, are all the Nutnfancy nut-hugger reviewers popping up on youtube. Going nuts over thumb jimping and full flat grinds just because they saw nutnfancy talk about it. Gets old fast.

Again on the video length. I liked his earlier videos that dealt with skills, and the videos that actually involve using his toys and not just talking about them. But lately, there seems to be a lot of fluff you have to wade through to get to what he's actually trying to tell you.

I was always kind of ambivalent about him initially, though it was cool that he's from utah and it was nice to see in hand shots of knives. that was until I tried watching his video review of the xdm 45. it's almost an hour long! eff that. dude needed to get to the point when his videos were nine minutes, but now just forget about it.

I've always thought his videos were of some value. He seems to have some degree of related expertise and he usually sheds quite a bit of light on whatever product he's reviewing. I usually find myself manually jumping through his videos to minimize the off topic talking and repetition however. Regarding the over use of the word "tactical" it's really just a sign of the times in this titanium, tactical, low drag, high speed, Teflon coated world we apparently now live in.

I personally like the points he makes in his reviews and the gear and kinds of things he goes over. He also seems to always try to give his honest opinion based on experience and not corporate sponsorship which I respect a ton. Though honestly his run and gun videos and his video length are my two worst parts about him. Not that there's anything wrong with his run and guns, they're just boring. And I also have to skip through his videos because he has no script and no plan for his reviews so he always goes on too long.

Um, am I the only one who finds this thread to be a bit of a violation of privacy? I like his reviews as well, but if he wanted everyone to know his "secret identity", I imagine he'd want to do it himself. NF is a member here, and while some may argue that the info is already out there and it's cool because he's community famous, I'm a bit weirded out that anyone feels they need to know his real name, addy, family names, job history, income, etc, let alone post the information on a forum he frequents without his consent.

My username is my real name, that's just how I am, but a lot of people choose usernames (like powernoodle) because they value their privacy, even when in the semi-public eye. If someone's scamming people, that's one thing, but the guy's just doing gear reviews. Everybody needs to quit being so nosy. Just my opinion.
