Um, am I the only one who finds this thread to be a bit of a violation of privacy? I like his reviews as well, but if he wanted everyone to know his "secret identity", I imagine he'd want to do it himself. NF is a member here, and while some may argue that the info is already out there and it's cool because he's community famous, I'm a bit weirded out that anyone feels they need to know his real name, addy, family names, job history, income, etc, let alone post the information on a forum he frequents without his consent.
My username is my real name, that's just how I am, but a lot of people choose usernames (like powernoodle) because they value their privacy, even when in the semi-public eye. If someone's scamming people, that's one thing, but the guy's just doing gear reviews. Everybody needs to quit being so nosy. Just my opinion.
Well said. Couldn't agree more. I am sure there is an actual reason that he didn't post his personal information, especially in this day and age.
Knife and gun collecting and using seems to attract a bad element sometimes (although a very small amount of a huge community) that finds themselves worrying about all manner of apocalyptic situations in which their one piece of equipment, be it a knife or gun, will be the key to their survival.
Imagine how that gang will feel if they think NF has lied to them. They just might take it personally. Then of course there is always that guy that find you actually live near him and has to find out if you are "the real deal" or just a motor mouth.
And with all the folks that hear voices these days.... real, imagined or otherwise.... that tell them what to do.... it wasn't me.... it was the voices....
I wouldn't think anyone would like to see their personal information on the boards. ESPECIALLY as large as this one.
I am wondering just how many here, especially the OP would be happy to have that much of his own personal information put out to an international audience. How would that make his wife and family feel? Creeped out? Good idea in this day and age to let someone know where you live and about your wife and kiddos?
- Now we know where he lives
- We know how old he is (makes for a sure I.D., right?)
- About how much money he makes
- A good guess about where he works (we know what he does)
- We know he is still involved in the military
- We not only know it is easy (thanks to a heads up) to find his personal address, but a picture of his house
- We also know it is easy to get a copy of his personal license plate
- We know who he is married to, and even her name!
- To sweeten the pot, we know he has a child name Zach
With all we know now, we would be set for just about any kind of mayhem we could muster if NF rubbed us the wrong way. We wouldn't have to look hard, and we wouldn't have to look far. And we wouldn't have to leave out his family, either since we know who and how many that entails.
I don't know why anyone would be that completely fascinated (cyber stalking?)with a minor YouTube celebrity, but then again I wonder who would think is wise to put that much information at the finger tips of others as well.
I know the old saw will be that anyone could find that information, anyone could do anything they wanted to with/without information, the internet, etc., etc. But you could do a lot of things that common sense, decency and respect would tell you NOT to do.
I wonder how many spouses would be happy knowing that so much of their personal and family lives were made so public, with additional assurances that more info was easily available.
After all, if NF wanted us to know that personal information, he would use his real name and put that stuff where we could all easily see it (as was done here), right?
I like the old videos, but don't care for the longer ones he does now. But that doesn't mean I would post anything that could potentially lead him to harm at most, and is just a downright disregard for his privacy at least. I mean really, unless I missed a post, NO ONE was clamoring for that information. It was simply posted for someone's personal amusement.
Bad form.
