The Official BB13 User Thread

I would be VERY Concerned!! Not Really, paid for my CG on Dec 12th and received a notification Today!!
Anyone else not get a shipping notice for their Battle Grade B13 yet? just wondering if I should be concerned or not, I was dinged the 13th of December. These cool pictures make me want that monster even more!

Ahh speak of the devil, just got a shipping notice today. I guess I was last in line for the Battlegrade, so I'm good. just too bad there is an ice storm coming this weekend so not sure if I'll get any chopping done with it.

Last in line? Hardly. Mine hasn't even been dinged yet.
It was a rather late addition to my order, though.

Paid for it, but still waiting on a shipping notice. I'm thinking the weather may have slowed things down. Can't wait.

Dinged on 20th, hope to see the notice this week. Cant wait to strip one of those ladies and see here naked. After reading the email about the blade balancing, I know she's going to be a real looker.

Got to use the BB13 BG this past weekend, it feels great. I am curious to see comparisons of the BG and CG from people who bought both. What does everyone think of the choil area? After using it I think it would be awesome to see that style choil used on shorter blade lengths of basic knives that I hope are released when operation 2 weeks starts again.

Thought this thread could use some CG pics. Not really supposed to be doing stuff like chopping right now due to injury, (not serious, just need to take it easy for a while,) but I couldn't resist breaking in the CGBB13 a little.

Did some splitting with it on firewood in my garage. The initial impression is that this thing hits like freakin maul :D The wood just exploded apart, axe not required lol.

Can't wait to get some proper time in with it. Felt really great in use to me, surprisingly nimble for its size. When I initially handled it out of the box I wasn't sure about the balance and grip with the extra forward weight, but once I had my leather gloves on and started swinging I had no concerns.

It's still early, and I don't see myself rushing to sell off my '11s at all, but this definitely looks like the new king chopper for me. What a beast!!

inkynate,

Hope you heal up soon and can get out to do some serious chopping. Looks like you did some nice work already.

I see the BB13 as filling a quite different niche from the 1311 - it's a dedicated chopper, the 1311 is a more versatile large blade. If I wanted something portable just for choppign wood, the BB13 would be the choice. If I wanted something that I can chop with, but also slash vines and light vegetation, open a few coconuts with, etc, then I would probably go for the 1311.

As previously mentioned, I still think there's room for a 1311-like blade (perhaps even a bit longer in INFI.

Mine arrived today here down under...

Very awesome... heading out this afternoon to chop some stuff in the back yard. One thing I noticed.... The spine on my B11 is rounded off... where as the spine of the BB13 is square edged...I think I prefer the rounded edge...

Awesome, just got mine in today as well. So far it's the best chopper I've had efficiency and comfort wise. The 1111 was superb as well. I still think the Battle Saw is more fun to use, and overall my most favorite large knife. The B13 would likely have been my favorite but aesthetically Res-C doesn't do it for me (especially tan), and the more stick kinda tang vs absolute full tang gives me slight pause on truly beating them. This thing sure takes it 100% on the value deptartment though. I am waiting for Rob Stanely to do some comparisons videos with some of his more equal testing. Overall this has to be in the top 5 best Busse/kin choppers.

Got mine today and it's definitely closer to 3/16 than 1/4 but I am surprised how blade heavy it is. Feels like they made the right choice thinning these.

Thanks Garth, I'm back in action for real now.

Got both of the sheathes in from Al Welke. Now that it's starting to warm up, maybe I can put some use on these beauties.

Nice, those are good looking sheaths! I ordered two of the same thing from Al, they'll arrive any day now according to usps tracking. I got them with drop loops, I'll rig some kind of thigh strap and see how they go - not sure if they'll be too big to carry that way.
