I guess this is a new school version of an old school knife. Anyone know for sure what "CI" stands for? Conservation International is my guess, since it is a DU-15 other than the laser cutout.

This thread died down so i'll bump it back up. I rebuilt my display framed the inside out with wood, custom spot for my honesteel. large sports for long knives and two top rows for my small knives. the white handle melon knife is a colonial. I redid the case to relive pressure off the springs, I'm more comfortable with them displayed this way. I know the picture quality sucks, I wish I had a digital camera, would make things so much nicer.

Very cool display, mm

Are there more in your collection, or is that just all you care to display?

I want to make a display too, but I'm afraid the mrs. wouldn't be too keen on me putting it out anywhere.

I've got these old brazilian (I think) army bayonets that I bought from SMKW ages ago. I've been wanting to make a display for one to hang it up.

Oh well, someday, when all the "important" projects are done...

nope, thats all I have. Not to worry, that will change :D . I think displays are nice, much better than that dusty ol' painting hanging on the wall ;) . I would hang this one on the wall, but I'm kind out of space (shoulda made my screen name "packrat") :p . I had the frame work built and epoxied together in under an hour. tacked it in place in the case after I tacked a red bandana up in the back. and hoped I had measured right and everything would fit. I just got tired of everything sliding around in the case, tried egg foam, cotton bedding and anything else I could scrounge up, but they would'nt stay in place even when I inletted the foam. plus, I'm much more comforatble with them displayed closed.
have a good one.

Okay, I finally got ambitious, dragged all my knives back out, and looked up some pattern numbers and did some measuring. I have edited the pics that I have info on. Alot of these are schrade cuts, and don't have pattern #'s. I'll post some more new(old) ones when I get a chance. In the meantime, some of you guys are holding out on us. Show us your schrades.... :)

I just received this today and I'm not sure which Old Timer this is. The blades are as bright as a shiny new penny, round bolsters, 3 1/4" long, and NO tang stamp. Nice little stockman whatever it is:

Is that one of the ones I sent out I forget who I sent them to. I did not check the tang markings. It could have happened please let me know. LT

No LT, it didn't come from you. I bought it knowing there was no tang stamp. This knife has the old round bolsters and a Turkish clip or a modified Turkish clip for the main blade. Is the missing tang stamp a major problem?

Being a newbie and just returning from a gun and knife show. I have to say
that there was an old timer fixed blade skinner for $25 dollars that was US
made and I was curious if I missed a deal.

There also was a fillet knife for $20 dollars and a fixed blade with a green
handle that I liked.

The real question is should i buy the $25 dollar skinner knife the next time the
show comes around? Or is that to much to pay for one?

How the hell can you be a newbie with 3000 posts here? I'M a newbie.

Because I haven't hung out in the Schrade Forum and I know nothing about
Schrades really.

Fixer, there were quite a few models and variations of skinners made by Schrade over the years. Can you tell me the tangstamp? And the green handled (TPR - Thermoplastic rubber) Safe-T-Grip knives are a good deal for the dollar. I currently would give in the $20 range for one if I needed one. Those would be the 140OT, 141OT, 142OT, 143OT, 146OT, 147OT, 246OT, and three folders, 43OT, 47OT, and the 49OT.

( ATTN Redshanks )Just saw your response when i saw second pic I realized it was not one I sent. However in regard to no tang being a problem the fact is that I find those abnormalitys great to collect. I have a bunch. If I had sent it I would have been more ticked off that I didn't spot it to save more than anything else. Nice Odd ball. LT

The company had a long and interesting history in addition to making everything from good practical knives to spectacular knives. If you're like me, you will enjoy learning more about Schrade and their wonderful knives. Sad to say, I expressed little interest in their products until they went under. Through my own indifference, I contributed to their demise, but I have bought enough since to almost bring the company back singlehandedly.

That's a 58OT....kind of an oddball since it was actually an Ulster....made by the Ulster division of Imperial-Schrade Corp. The way to look at it is, Imperial, Schrade, and Ulster were all independent companies at one time...then they all mergred after WWII and became Imperial Schrade Associated Companies.

Imperial made the really inexpensive knives, Schrade made the highest grade, and Ulster marked knives were in the middle.

I have always loved that particular pattern...that is to say, the 3-1/4" serpentine frame made with those particular blades or as a 2-blade jack. Countless thousands of that pattern or style were made with "shell" type handles under the Imperial trade mark, a lot were made under the Ulster tang marking and with the CRAFTSMAN brand for Sears. Only a relatively few of that exact pattern and size were made under the Schrade trademark, and the Schrade version was only made in stainless steel.
