They are still out there, guys.. the old, off the beaten track small town hardware stores that WalMart hasn't beaten into the group. No, you won't find a display full of old Cattaraugus classics, nor anything like that.. those are gone.

But this week I found a store with some modern classics.. Old timers. And since the hardware shop owner had gotten word that Schrade had gone down, he was selling his stock at a bargain price. "To make room", he told me. He was under the impression no one would want them. So I helped him out. 3 77OT Improved Muskrats, a couple with boxes. 3 of the scallop-sheepfoot blade Blazers, and a handful of trappers and stockmans. It wqs an old display case, the paperwork seeming to date the knives I bought from the early nineties.

$10 to $12 each. Amazing.. I must live right.

You must have been smiling the whole time Phil....

I'll bet his video camera.....oh wait, it wasn't WalMart.....if he had one, it would show you like you just caught a Royal Flush! :D

Cause for celebration, for sure.

There is an old hardware near me that had a large Schrade floor display from the early 90's....maybe about 1991...and it seemed to be full in that all display models were in place. I know that the display was still in the store last fall, but I just went there last week and it was gone!!

My friend had a similar experience , he found a $50 Schrade selling for $20, he bought all three they had. He immediately called me and said 'you won't believe this but ...'
