The old mans tools.

cool thanks!

i got a pretty similar setup, i have a usb drive in my treasure box but i dont edc it
i just wanna find a better flashlight that what i have now

If you haven't already done so, check out the Fenix line of lights. They're pretty decent, and won't cost an arm and a leg.

l think a Buck Companion, Fenix EO5, mini Bic Lighter, pencil, a small bandana, and wallet could hold me over quite nicely. In fact, substitute the Companion for a stockman, 501 Squire, or SAK and it is what I carry everyday.

Thank you for the nice story, Carl! I love your stories about the good old days. :)

Kind regards
Andi

Very nice story, you make me want to throw all of my things out and get bare minimum tools, lures, equipment, etc. If you ever need extra cash, I am sure you could write excellent propoganda packets for some third world dictator :D.

Great read as always,
Connor

Great story, once again, Carl! As I approach 60 this coming year, I find more and more I am carrying my little yellow peanut with the modified pen blade. It seems to be big enough to handle just about any task I meet on a daily basis. Although many times I am carrying a larger folder in a belt pouch around our little ranch, just in case of some chore requiring a larger blade, I still find the peanut handles most of the cutting chores!

Regards,
Ron

Hey Bosse, welcome back! I was starting to worry about where ya went. Roaming around the mountains huh! Great way to spend some time.

Carl.

Great story Carl  , thanks for sharing.

Great story Carl. Takes me back to the Wisconsin northwoods where my dad took us fishing quite a bit. I learned early on that smaller hooks too could catch any size fish, whereas the huge hooks I wanted to use would only catch the big ones.

Day-am Jack, ya pretty got my edc right there. How do you like the peanut lighter? I've toyed with the idea of getting one of those, but don't know anyone who had first hand experience with them.
Carl.

It's good as a backup lighter, always on my keys, and having the rubber seal i didn't have any fuel evaporating... still worked fine after a few months of keychain carry, but to use it all the time is a bit awkward, unscrew it and screw it back every time, the whole action is not very fast, and the thing is quite small, not the easiest to open it if it's too tight, and its smooth and a bit slippery.
Construction wise, the thing is a small beast. Thick steel walls, rubber seal, overall looks and feels very tough, so it ain't gonna be easy to break it.
I used it a couple of times, when i forgot to take my lighter, and worked as a charm every time. I'm not sure how long you can use it on one fuel charge, but i'm thinking about 40 50 times at the best.
All that said, i do like the small peanut lighter, and never take it off my keys. You never know when it's needed.

Ya know, seeing as how I love peanut pocket knives, and I have the dubious honor of being the Grand High Mukba of the cult of the peanut, I feel I have been guilty of violating some obscure rule of the cult in not having a peanut lighter!:o

I vow to correct that behavior.

:D

Carl.

You fellas might need to get the peanut of pipes, Missouri hardwood mini, with my don't leave home without.

Man that thing is small, i need one :D
I can only find the corn cob mini legend around here, but I'm roughly guessing it is the same size as your hardwood pipe.

Wow, a vulnerable blank spot in my pipe line up. I love the idea of a mini shirt pocket pipe for those 'little' breaks in the day that may be too short for an hour smoking a 300 series Peterson.

This can be a very dangerous path; peanut pocket knife, peanut lighter, peanut sized pipe. I feel a bad trend coming my way!

Carl.

At first I tought, wow that's small I'm going to burn my face off, but it's just right, after the second light it stays lit through the whole smoke, which is about 10 minutes fully packed. It's great for hands free very light in the mouth. Great fishing, on walks, whittling, I really like it and it's easy to carry in your shirt pocket.
