The old, old knife thread!!

Do any of you other guys wonder like I do, when you look at a real old knife, maybe even from the last century, what tales it could tell if it could speak to you? Like who carried it, and where it has traveled?

Oh heck, thats it. I'm checking into the rubber knife rest home.

Hope it is a very large rubber room, because make room for Tony cause here I come!.:D

Well, you guys had better save me a corner in that rubber room, cause it looks like I'm gonna be right there with you. I always wonder what stories my grandpa's knives could tell. He was a retired Air Force Sargeant who travelled and lived all over the world, and I could just imagine some of the stories these knives would have.

Oh man!

You just gave me the idea of a unique short story!

But I don't know if Couger Allen will leave it in hee if its a short work of fiction dealing with the travels of a knife.

JK if Cougar doesn't leave your posts right here in this forum we will hunt him down and .... :)

Write it, JK, I'd love to read it! I think Cougar would leave it here, it's knife related...and besides, I'm sure he wouldn't want to have to deal with db there and all the other reprobates and reprobates-in-training! :D

While jackknife is thinking, here is a little something to get the thread back to the top :D

The more active portion of my Schrade accumulation ;)

What can I say, I haven't been around this forum much :o

I will second the notion of a sticky thread with links to jackknife's work

Old Knife thread won!:D
These are pretty old; I picked them out of a big collection!
The Union at the top came from a different source. From the top;
Union Cut. Co - Case Tested (I've been looking for this one for 5-6 years!) - Case Bradford Pa - Case Tested - Case Brothers Little Valley - W.R.Case & Sons Bradford Pa.

Those are some really great knives there Waynorth. I have been asking around for months and still can't find a nice old harness jack around here. Here is a Sheffield barlow that I posted over in the Bernard Levine forum. I was shocked to learn that it dates from sometime before 1819. Bottom one is an old Cattaraugus with a sheep foot main blade.

I love those oldies, Rivit. Worth 2-3 new knives any time! Nice!!!

Here's one I posted before. The workmanship is beautiful on what is left of this knife. Levine said this one was after 1890, but I don't know any more.:o

Here are a couple I picked up the other day. First is a Corsican Vendetta knife. Front is etched Vendetta Corsa, back is etched "Death to my Enemies" in Spanish. Other one is a nice 1880's jack marked BROCH & Co. CELEBRATED CUTLERY N.Y.

Mine is a very old hammer brand scout knife and I think it's rare as I've looked far and wide and haven't found one like it it has the one blade and a cap opener and then this real thick blade that is dull but I got a very nasty cut from it. It's spring is also very tight even though I've dated the blade from the stamp to be 100 years old or over. iPod won't let me post a pic
