Thread bump! I've looked through this thread multiple times over the years and have drooled over the red old cross Pioneers. Finally decided to pull the trigger on one. Should arrive on Monday and I'm pumped. Cleaning out some other knives that just sit around in anticipation of giving this Pioneer some serious pocket time.

This just in. Everything on this knife is as tight and snappy as any brand new Pioneer I've ever had. Very happy with this purchase. Next step is to decide if the keyring stays or gets introduced to my Dremel. I like having the lanyard but hate how pokey the ring is in my palm.

Congrats on the ravishing red old cross Pioneer!! It looks superb.

I found one in an antique/consignment shop a couple of years ago, and consider it one of my best knife finds. I forgot that this thread existed, so I haven't ever posted it here. Time to rectify that situation!
