Jim, I concur and on some levels this also comes down to honesty and trusting. If people are concerned perhaps they could bring some of the concern to private discussions as well between the traders to try and learn more about the situations. Or some other manner though ultimately that still comes down to honesty there.

Received a couple of questions about who should get how much, whether someone should give before they get, etc, etc, etc.

Here's the feeling I have: This thing has grown legs and is running like a fine tuned Ferrari. I couldn't be happier than to see a little idea that popped out of my otherwise empty melon make so many people get into the giving spirit, and make people happy. I don't want to bog things down with rules, since the loose guidelines have been more than enough to guide this excellent thread along.

Anybody taking 'too much' might have nothing and no money, so this might be their first chance to get something. The guy who hasn't posted anything yet, might just post a ton of great items tonight or at a later date.

Let's keep the great karma flowing. If this gets into a finger pointing fest, people will bail, and I will close the post. If someone else then wants to restart it, I won't be a part of it, and I am guessing that many of the great folks that have been so generous would not restart either.

Any thoughts? Otherwise, I would like to just continue things the way they are.

I think just leave it as it is. No one seems to be getting greedy and i think we have all pretty much posted something anyway. Self moderation is the best i think.

Right you are. I got that beautiful curley koa from Drew, but I won't be posting anything until the weekend. But I will post something.

As for how much a person can "take", I'd say Just Have Some Class. My wife and son both wanted me to go immediately after another item, but I told that would be ugly thinking. The idea is to be blessed AND to be a blessing, right?

And have fun doing it!

I think if posters are concerned that latecomers aren't getting a fair shot at some items posted on here, they could always put a caveat in, when they post their stuff, to the effect of "all items in play after xx:00 today". That would give some folks coming in later to have a shot at some of this stuff, if the poster so desires. Any thoughts? Does it unneccessarily complicate things?

I've got a lightning OFT. It's not in good conditon. But it's fully functional. It's the coated version, but the coating is destroyed.

Here's a photo. You get the idea

Thanks but it looks like i got the original.

Its very cool that you offered it though, someone else will pick it up im sure!

It's your stuff to post and give how you want. Please, folks, this has been so cool. Let's not put extraneous rules on stuff. That said, it is yours to do with.

Can't a great thing just continue to be great?

I agree. We all are giving without thinking of recieving, this isnt a "trade" sort of thread

Yes. Exactly!

This is exactly what the Bible talks about. Give to strangers, (or at least pretend that they're strangers :D ) And ask for nothing in return. Don't ask if they follow the "rules", just give and be happy that you're able to help make someone happy. Help and be helped by the fact that your helping!
God Bless! Ya'll are awesome and you know it!

Even if you're not a Christian, you have to agree that this is how Christians should act! Sorry if I'm making this weird. I'm just so happy to see people acting right!

Nice reference pirate king. I noticed your pic of the OTF was sitting on the Bible. It's nice to interact with a man of the word.

Thank you! :D That particular version is one that I just picked up recently at a GoodWill, it's really interesting because the editor went the learned ancient Greek and Hebrew and re-translated the Bible. It's a fun read, makes a guy think twice.
Anyway, this thread makes me happy. Now I've got to go look for more things to give away! I love it!!

I could definately use a Lansky System if it has the extra-course and course stones. I've just started making knives and I need a way to lay down an even initial edge.
I can offer up my next knife (#4), I was thinking of a small knife to fit in an altoids tin.

It's yours pending address

Just updating my offering to the thread with another item and some pictures! Pictured is a Smith's Arkansas Tri-Hone that will include a bottle of Nathan's Oil and a Cold Steel Counter Point 1. The Tri-Hone is a great sharpening system and I loved it a lot, but with my new stones I just never use it, so time for someone else to take it! As for the Counter Point 1, it's just not my style. Has some scratches from getting careless sharpening, but is otherwise near new. The Tri-Hone is aesthetically beat, but it gives nice sharp edges so it still does it's job!
