The one that got away

Have been dealing with some personal issues lately, that's one of the reason why I have not been around.
So----my take on this thread is----any axe, hatchet, adze in my tool box, that will be for sale. Most likely, I am going to finally do the sale some time early 2020. My situation now dictates that my sale list is going to be much bigger than I first thought.
What I would really like to do is put them up for bid first here on the axe forum, that way everybody (except one guy) here has an equal chance. I dont know if this idea is even doable on the forum. I am very sure I dont have the skill, hell, I can't even post pictures! May have to use a ebay contract seller, like I did a few years ago. Open to suggestion on this. I now must do this.

Where do you live? What State? Perhaps some in-person assistance for the photos and hosting, etc would be helpful.

The one that got away was a sweet broad hatchet with the clearest Bluegrass logo I've ever seen. Guy had it in back of his truck on a hwy yard sale through North Alabama. I spied it and offerered him everything i could think of. He kept saying nah i think im gonna use as my kindlin hatchet. I still see that logo in my mind. Oh well! Maybe someday but it hurts my heart to know that guy is pounding kindlin with that beauty.

Blue Sasq. No help available here on the big island of Hawaii. I brought everything with me from the mainland. I am getting a lot of offers of help from you guys, thanks. Still trying to figure this out. I hope to at least have a written listing to post some time in January, 2020.

Hey Bernie! Check your messages, I am trying to get a hold of you to see if you would be interested in an interview to help me with my axe project. Thanks for the time!! Mike

I am sad to have let this one slip away from me last night. It was mislabeled in the auction as a “fire axe from the 1800’s”. But it was actually a Gifford Wood co., House Ice Axe. Not like the little ice axes that were used to cut small blocks off of the big blocks on the wagon for peoples ice boxes. These were used in the warehouses for cutting the large blocks.

I should have stayed up a little later and bid a little more. :(

I recently found one of these at a peddlers mall. How much did this go for at auction if you remember? Thanks in advance.

What axe do you most regret NOT getting?

Actually I would be content with just one axe to use for practical purposes.

Being in a state of regret for not "getting" an axe or any other inanimate object reminds me of something a five-year old would be after not liking what they saw upon opening wrapped birthday presents. And needing to own trendy or fashionable objects also seems immature or shallow doesn't it ???

I never bought an axe or any other collectible through the internet. If I don't trip over something locally and very cheaply by chance then I don't have it. If I never run across another axe or hatchet etc. for sale the rest of my life I could care less, just one axe and one maul and one hatchet would serve me or anyone else fine to the end.

Operator1975- Mike, I tried to respond to your request back in Nov. in my profile. But, as I said many times, I am a cluck with computer stuff, so I probably screwed it up.

The answer is yes, I will do a telephone interview with you. If you have a way to get my personal email from Square Peg without making it available to the wack jobs (see above post) then we can make it happen.

For those that asked about my axes, I think I am a little closer to getting a ebay contractor seller lined up.

Haha funny. That is some interesting stuff though just yesterday I found myself wondering where the February episode of Operators podcast was. And I am one of I’m sure many here who are interested in seeing your axes.
