You guys ever drool over a knife and think, I am so gonna get that soon......

...but when soon comes it is too late and its "the one that got away"?

Happened to me when I was putting off ordering a Kershaw damascus leek but now they're impossible to find :[

Oh well, whats your "one that got away"?

Benchmade AFCK (the 806d2 version).

The ones that come out these days are all limited editions which I don't want to pay a premium for.

They have been coming up on the bay lately...$100 or so. Same thing happenend to me...now they're more than I'm willing to pay.

The day I went to buy a damasteel Crawford Persico it had sold overnight. Worst part was that my credit card company had raised my limit earlier in the week and had not told me about it so I could have had it. Was just not meant to be.

Thanks for letting me know, but yeah for those prices i would much rather be getting something else... Heres hoping Kershaw has some crazy sprint runs I can be a part of this year. Maybe an elusive purple unicorn they call the blur. Or a titanium illusion fairy they call a leek.

So many knives so little money the more that get away..... :P

A Bladetech Profili folder, made by Fox Italy, now discontinued, confiscated by Australian customs when they brought out a new law. On a positive note 18 months ago I lost my 4 year old EDC Leatherman Charge, it was a discontinued, much used, black coated model. Bought a new Charge and wrote the old one off, recently at Christmas my mother-in-law put her hand down the back of the sofa and pulled out the lost one. Best Xmas present ever.Old black model has gone to the collection cupboard, new one is EDC. Just like the Biblical parable when the shepherd loses 1 sheep he'll leave the 99 to go and find it, we always seem to really regret the 1 we lost or never purchased when we had the chance. Hope I havn't strayed too far of the original post.

I was standing at Bobby Branton's table at Blade - Atlanta several years ago, fondling a Brend/Branton Number 5 Boot Knife, still one of the most beautiful knives I have ever seen. Wanted it badly but really didn't have a practical use for it. The kicker is that my wife was standing at my left shoulder and said, "If you don't buy it now when it's available, you will regret it later." She was right, I knew she was right, but I still walked away.

And yes, I know that women like that are rare.

Quite a few really. Big one is the Orange g-10 UKPK. I love my Foliage Green one, but every once in a while I get a craving for the Orange one. Then I see how much people are asking, sigh, and go back to chasing a non-phantom knife. A lot of the Knifeworks Benchmade sprints too. I never seem to have spare cash when one of those is around, and the aftermarket values are way out of wack.

Any of Trisak's old style blades. Back when he was selling them in the knifemakers exchange. Before he went all "hard".

Oddly enough, I want a Cuda Max 5.5 with the bowie blade and ti slab handles. I don't know why. I had the opportunity to get one wholesale at 95 bucks....IF I can find one now.....they can usually ask about any price they want....

I learned a lesson from watching my dad. He always just bought it when he saw it, gathered lots of useless stuff that way. So if I see something I want I usually wait till the next day or two, or Ill say I can get it later I dont have the money now.

Missed out on a few Gray Blurs, a S60V non-blem(too expensive anyhow), Brown S30V, 1670OD, 1670SO, the list goes on and I am now working on breaking a good habit to form a bad compulsive knife buying habit.

Saw a Zero Tolerance 0350kw go off on ebay one time for $95. It's the exclusive with beadblasted blade. Never pulled the trigger. Going on alittle over a year now that I've been after one. Still pissed about it, too. haha

This is exactly why I ended up preordering the orange Para-Military 2. I was weighing the pros and cons out loud to my wife and she said the same thing, "Just get it. You're gonna be mad if you pass it up."

I bought a CUDA Maxx 5.5 and sold it months later. Kicked myself and scraped up the money and bought another. Thank goodness, 'cause now they're hard to find and it's one of my favorite knives!

And finally, I miss my PE Spyderco Scorpius. I don't even remember why I sold it -- maybe I needed the money. Anyway, now they're impossible to find and go for yucky amounts of money. Esav, if you're reading this, I hope you're treating that lovely little knife right! :(:D

There have been a couple Blurs I've said, no you better not right now and they got away. My finger pulled the trigger on an 1670BOR before my mind had the chance to engage! Thanks Jim! lol

about a month ago I learned that Kershaw had a Ti/ZDP-189 leek sprint. well im about 5yrs too late but I still want one
