The One thing Spyderco could learn from SOG

Spyderco does quite a few "deep carry" knives. You just have to look at the clip/handle and theorize. The Caly3 disappears in your pocket, has amazing ergos, and your choice of steels are off the chart (would you like a super steel or a superhuman steel?). It's also a pretty light knife for one with liners, g10, etc.

I like SOG's clips but don't know how they work in application. I know the Spyderco wire clip is pretty perfect. Not to bash on SOG, but they don't seem to be quite as cheap on the market as they should be for having AUS8 blades. If you want VG10 your going to pay close to $100 or more while a Native with S30v costs 50-60% of that.

I do like their designs though. :) A bit too tactical-y at times but they sure think about aesthetics.
 
I think the clips match the knife's intended purpose. The UKPK which is meant to be carried in a somewhat covert urban enviroment has a lowride wire clip whereas the Military which is intended for a soldier in the field has much of the knife exposed for ease of access. Basically, if the knife is meant to be carried in a more hidden fashion it has that clip.
 
I like the fact that spyderco and sog offer different pocket clip designs. Sometimes I prefer the deep carry pocket clip that sog offers, while other times I desire a "para" type pocket clip. Another way to put it is like this; I love full flat grinds (for their functionality and looks) but that doesn't mean that every knife I own is going to have full flat grind. I celebrate variety and diversity when it comes to my knife collection :)
 
Deep carry is better IMO because there is less chance of loss and the knife is not being "advertised". Damage to the knife is also reduced because it is not constantly comming in contact with stuff we walk into. Counter tops, brick/concrete doorways ect are no problem with this carry mode. I too love the SOG deep carry clips. I often carry an SOG twitch XL and find it's "ride" to be perfect. Opinions vary widely and the world would be boring if not. Best.
