I am sure most of you don't recall it, but a long time ago I was one of the first to sign up for paypal. At that time you got 10$ to join and 10$ for each referral. I posted an offer to donate my 10$ referral fee for everyone who signed up if they would do likewise. WELL, if you want to see some nasty responses, just check out:

Apparently (without checking ANY details) several of us were quick to assume this was a pyramid scheme. For the record, I went on to make several hundred bucks signing up ebay customers and paypal has become a pretty significant way to pay.
Now that paypal has become a major payment method, I haven't seen (nor expect) any apologies. Hey, it is easy to attack what you don't understand.

Later!

I agree on the whole pyramid scheme issue. But anyone who looks (even briefly) at paypal can see that it is not that. I guess since it was attacked with such vigor and then embraced as it is now that I'd throw it back up as a cautionary tale... Sometimes we are quick to accuse.

Anyway, while he misjudged paypal as a pyramid scheme, SPARK was never rude or insulting. The other posters were and some decided to send me some emails they would probably be embarrassed to show their wives or bosses. I have always used that as my criteria.... "Would I be upset if somebody copied my boss and my wife on this email/ posting/ whatever?"

Then why are you posting now? This is pathetic.

Sorry I brought it up. Not looking for sympathy, if that is what you are implying. Just seen a lot of folks immediately jump on somebody's case lately--- witness the diatribes on the BTTT incident in the Knives for sale arena. Also got a massive flame-oid email from a heavy poster here regarding a question I asked about a knife he had for sale. Smoking. When he re-read it, he realized he had misread the question. In fairness, he was quite chagrined at the nature of his reply. I'm just observing that we are often quick to type things that are not nearly as civil as we would be in person. Even the "officer and gentleman" that whipped off the flame-oid.

I wouldn't call this the "one" time I made a mistake - I've made several way worse t

Looks like MT & Turber are already beginning to make some knives to accompany the sharp tutu'd man:

Fracmeister,

And your reason for bring this to our collective attentions so long after the fact would be.....?

Just a kind suggestion. Close your eyes. Concentrate on breathing regularly and deeply through you nose. Just relax. Clear your mind of all adverse thoughts. Imagine yourself in a peaceful and relaxing place (like on a beach or in the woods by a lake). Feel the tension in your muscles leave your body. Think happy thoughts.....Now, doesn't Kevin's actions seem miniscule and nothing to still be burdening you after all this time? Go hug your kids or kiss your wife/girlfriend or pet your dog (whichever applies). Life is not all that bad.

Or...give your shrink a call.
