The one you can't live without

Don’t think I have any I can’t live without but I’m pretty sure I could accomplish anything I would ever need a knife for with a SAK or slip joint of some kind. If I had to choose the one knife I would keep out of my current collection it would be the Izula. I carry a lot of smaller and more expensive fixed blades, but the Izula is still my favorite, especially the stainless version. I often wonder why I buy more knives when that one is about perfect for my needs.

Likely, not just one. Maybe, I can pare-it-down to three favorites:

I managed to live with a Buck 110 and an SAK (with several tools) . . .and I've lived without them too. I lived without my current EDC, a Leatherman Wave, but now never go out without it. Yet, I'd really like to own a CRK Sebenza 31 and/or an improved Wave.

I wish the Colombia Rivers M21 was a better knife in terms of materials.

It would be interesting to see what Randall Made could do in a folding pocketknife . . . .

Is this post on-point or way off topic?

I keep re-buying the Endura wharncliffe after I’ve sold it a few times. I guess I can’t live too long without it. Got a k390 in the mail

Sebenza 21... Either small or large.

Not much if anything beats it for me. -- EDC tasks, or things around the camp ... or while hunting.. been carrying one over 10-15 years at this point I'd guess? -- They are great knives, never given me any issues.

Since they've been discontinued, I've stocked up on different flavors of the 21. Both large and small... So I have variety. Another 10 years and a 21 will be quite hard to come by I reckon... So might as well stock up now.

CRK I'd say is my favorite overall .. simplicity, elegance and capability all in one.

I am quite fond of strider and hinderer, but they are too big and heavy, and the grinds don't make them amazing cutting tools to be honest, obviously overbuilt tanks...but even at that, a knife is meant to cut, not pry or do anything else. So all that "tankyness" is really quite unnecessary if you are using the knife for its intended purposes.

An honorary mention would go to the Opinel folding knives. Absolutely love them, and have used them in the kitchen for decades. The wood rots out after a while, but man they are relatively cheap and boy can they cut!

That applies to most of mine, but I think I'll take one or two on the final ride. Haven't narrowed it down enough yet to which, just enjoying current ownership of all of them!

Let's be honest, I plan to take several of my favorites in a cross-chest knife-slip bandolier Pancho Villa style! Over the right shoulder, modern folders, and over the left, slipjoints. Belt's going to have at least three fixies on it. A Buck slipjoint belonging to my Dad in my right pocket, one belonging to my Grandfather in my left.

I know it might be weird to quote your post but I just wanted to add........

I travel a lot. There are very few places that I can't carry my SAK either on my person or in my edc bag. This picture above was taken in London and I have taken pictures of my SAK in many other places with never a problem.
I was in one particularly security sensitive country and I had my bag searched going into a building. When the security officer found the SAK he looked at me and said in heavily accented English....."Swiss Army!" laughed and put it back. It is acknowledged worldwide as a bona-fide tool. It truly is the Coca Cola of knives.

It's not my best knife or my most favourite but it goes everywhere with me. It has been used multiple times to do all manner of essential chores and if I'm being honest......it's the one I genuinely can't live without. ;)

If I had to pick one, small CRK Sebenza. I’ve been carrying one for over 20 years now. Perfect EDC for me.

I do almost always pair it with a SAK Compact, which is my honorable mention.
