This group has some of the most interesting and extensive knife collections and personal stories.

Curious, what is the one knife you wish you had that you do not?

For me, a few pop to mind for sentimental reasons, knives I had when I was young but have lost through the years. The top of the list is a Case fixed blade small hunting/camping knife. Second is a WW2 era large folding knife that had a liner lock. It came with a deer skin belt sheath. I do not remember the maker, but it was large with black synthetic grips/covers. It supposedly was used in the Navy, but it did not have a marlinspike on it.

I have no real want/needs for a new purchase, but that won’t stop my buying. 😊

What are others wants?

My first Opinel and my first Okapi were both acquired under memorable circumstances. I definitely wish I still had both of those.

Other than that, I have no real wants or needs for new purchases either. I still like to browse dealer’s sites from time to time, but when something strikes my fancy I remind myself I have too many knives already, and usually manage to restrain myself.

If I'm gonna wish for something I don't have, it's gonna be phenomenal, and this one is! A twist Damascus integral with matching sheath
by Brazilian master Rodrigo Sfreddo.

I remember that one, Christian, it won the best Bowie contest here on BFC. A truly outstanding piece!

The one knife I can say I want (and would actually use) but will probably never find available at a price I would pay is a Waynorths 93 Smooth White Bone Lambsfoot.

I like to use my knives and get a lot more enjoyment out of them that way but that's one I couldn't bring myself to use. Probably end up in a glass case.

The waynorth lambsfoot in any other cover I'd actually put to use and get a nice patina on there.

I just wish that Wilson combat that I had ordered wasn't lost in the mail, because they no longer make that model:( and the dam things are vary hard to find on the second Margaret .

Honestly, I've been very lucky and managed to acquire most of my "grail" type knives, largely thanks to wonderful communities like this one... and an occasional rare bit of luck.

One I really wish I had grabbed at the time was a Madison Barlow. I had easily purchased a Northwoods Burnside Jack before and assumed the Madison release would be similarly easy to get. Boy was I wrong lol.

Same goes for a GEC Lumberjack with the saw. They were on shelves for a while and I was waiting to put together some cash to buy one but they were gone by the time I had the $$$.

GEC 221214 EC. I love small knives but when these came out I stupidly thought they were basically just a slight redesign of the 76, so I passed lol. Been kicking myself ever since.

Oh well, the hunt continues, and I still have a collection I am very grateful to have and many many wonderful cutting tools to enjoy. I even recently got one of my other grails, a 61 Deluxe Congress.
