Have you ever had a knife that you were dying to get but before you could save the cash they stopped making them. What about those cool knives that you wish they would bring back. Heres my list

Gerber:
Mark II
Austrailan Bowie
BMF

CRKT:
Sealtac II one of the first fixed blades that they did

Cold Steel:
Stag handled Trailmaster
Warhead (I've got one but wish I had bought another)
Twistmaster folders
Urban Shiv

Blackjack Knives:
Mamba 7L

Puma:
Trailmaster

so whats the ones that you wished would be brought back from the dead

I missed the Cold Steel Shivs too. There is another rare one out there that has eluded me called a Knax. I had a chance and passed due to funding. They left the market after a brief flash and I haven't seen em since :(

Gerber BMF.
Kershaw Trooper.
"Lefty" Spyderco G-10 Police.

Large Spyderco PE, they're as rare as rocking horse poo.

I also regret the Spyderco Calypso Jnr PE being discontinued. Ok so I've got one (and the SE varient), but it's such a great knife I always worry in case I lose the one I have.

I baught the Gerber BMF,the Gerber Mark 1 and the Gerber Utility Bowie before they where dicontinued. The Gerber bowie was crap. It had several design flaws. After chopping wood for only a few days, the guard come so loose, that i could move with my hands. Inside the handle, the blade tang got loose. I sended it back to Gerber, who replaced it with a new one. The same thing happened again! I returned that bowie too,but this time a wanted my money back, which i also got. It´s a shame, because the Gerber Bowie is a good looking bowie knife, and i wished it had perfomed better.

With design improvment and at the same time an upgrade of blade steel from 440c to let´s say AUS8A or VG10,i wish that the Gerber bowie was taken back to production. The Gerber BMF and Mark 1,i have only positive things to say about, just with an improvment of steel,i hope they will also come back to production. I would also like to see a rebirth of the Cold Steel Trail Master with stag handles.

How about the Becker Knife and Tool Magnum Camp?

Why that Fisk inspired design failed to be a market success escapes me. They left the market while I was focused elsewhere or I would have stocked up.

I did manage to pick up a second one on the used market though so, I guess I'm set for now.

I would have loved to bought a Gerber BMF. I spoke to the Gerber rep at A.G. Russells open house last summer. I mentioned wishing the BMF would return. He said if it did it would be some sort of anniversary or special edition deal(read expensive) but gave no real hope.:(

I don´t think that the BMF is coming back in the near future. In past time,Gerber had an entirely line of combat and survival knives, that now are discontinued. Among their discontinued knives where the LMF and the Patriot, which was the BMF´s little brothers. The LMF was almost identicaly to the BMF,while the Patriot was a more combat designed knife with a black coated blade and a plastic sheath. Now Gerber has introduced a new combat knife called "Silver Trident",and it seems like it has replaced all old combat and survival knives from Gerber.

I wish they could bring back the Mark 1 and Mark 2,the BMF,the LMF and the Patriot in to production again, and at the same time upgrade their steels to some high grade steel, like VG-10. However the BMF was made in souch a great numbers,so it should not be so hard to get by some colector.

EDI Genesis I. If you got one without any QC problems, they were up there with the best, IMHO.

Great knife,Like you said though, lots of QC problems. I have probably checked out a dozen of them and didnt trust the lock to hold on ANY of them.

I would like the see the gerber mk 1 and 2 put back into production, but as I was told by someone from gerber they were bloody expensive to make.

I totally agree with Sid's post.(Sorry Sid, no pun intended)
I'm still befuddled by that turn of events. But I'm very grateful I got my hands on a Magnum Camp Knife before they went the way of the Passenger Pigeon. I'm hoping they give this design a go again in the future. It's just too good to go away forever IMHO.

Anyway, there are lots of knives I've missed the boat on, but I'm still bigtime bummed about all the outstanding Blackjacks I've missed out on. Especially the 1-5 and 1-7's, sub-hilts(drool) and that freakin' awesome Vorpal Sword.

All the best,
Mike U.

I got the Gerver BMF back in '93 I think and the LMF a few years later. I also bought the CRKT Sealtac series i time - pretty cool knives by the way. Luckily I also got a Magnum Camp in time.

But then there are all those that got away. I am most sorry about all the Al Mar's and Black Jack's I missed out on. Right now I am considering a getting CS Trailmaster, the CV version which has been discontinued.

The problem of missing the boat will only be getting worse (unless you have unlimited funds of course!)Production technology is making it cheaper to launch new products in smaller series. At the same time the market damands novelties at a faster rate. Put together you end up with a shorter lifespan for most products, making it harder to keep up.

Only solution is to make more money and / or allocate more funds to buying knives :)

I wish I would have bought all of the old Benchmade Balisong's! And I wish I would've got another Cold Steel Mini Tanto.

I have a Calypso Jr. but I hate it that it has been discontinued. I also hated to see Spyderco discontinue the Mouse. I don't have one of those yet.

I am really aggravated at Marbles for changeing from 52100 steel to whatever the new stuff is.

The demise of Blackjack was also a shame.
