The Orange Dodo has finally arrived....

It's also a super people friendly design, very non-threatening although I think it would work pretty well in the same mode as a Perrin La Griffe.

people around me don't agree with you. most find it pretty scarry with it's blade profile.

actually when holding it i wonder if this knife has been created as an utility one or a SD tool the profile is very agresive with the reverse S just like the civilian and matriarch it's handle fits me like a glove in a reverse grip edge out wich serves no purpose for utility, the tip of the G10 handle protruding from below the hand in a saber grip just enough to be pretty painfull if you hit the ight spot isn't there for utility either imho.

that said i don't care about SD but i still think it would make a very good SD/last ditch knife ...

but yes it makes a great box cutter ... and i still love my blue one.

Mine came today and it is drop dead gorgeous. I love it more than black or blue.
Can someone please explain why the Dodo design seems so desirable? I'm kinda scratching my head on this one...
I was interesting in Dodo since I saw the picture of it first time. Couple month later I saw it on the knife show and pass. I couldn't close the knife. Probably it had a problem with the lock like some early samples, even seller couldn't close it. Still my interest in Dodo didn't go away and I bought both blue and black PE shortly after it was discontinued. There is something really fascinating about Dodo. When I see it or hold it I want to cut. I do not feel anything like this with any other knife...........May be this is a love.....:)

Hey all!!

Its upon us..

Looks like these are starting to arrive at dealers!!

I can't deal spot, but..Just wanted to let y'all know( if ya didn't already)

I received mine today. Rolls out smoother than the original, and the washers appear thicker slightly as does the general feel of the thickness of the folder overall. The lock ball is slightly deeper recessed feeling and it appears some refinement and lock advances, perhaps even a reinforcement nested plate related to that have been incorporated into the new refined limited run version I received today. The pocket clip screw and barrel is slightly smaller in diameter for both screws and barrel but otherwise it appears identical to the original other than these changes. There may be additional tweaking in the ball contact area on the blade too as this one is rather chunky for the contact compared to some of longer original tapered versions and even beefier than the later improved of wedge shape contact made thicker so I'm quite pleased. How pleased you say?

Well lets just say if any of you guys that get one decides to list it for sale later you can feel free to contact me because if the prices is good and I'm in a good way I'll just take that off yer hands for ya! ;) Nuff said.

I got one comin my way. Think I'll make this one my dedicated box opener. That hook on the blade is perfect to puncture than drag across cardboard.
Glad to hear there are some improvements made on this one.

Mine showed up yesterday. Fit and finish is fantastic. Ergos are great and the orange is bright, reminds me off the orange M2 I traded off. My only gripe is the lock, it's a bit tricky for me to disengage. Other than that, it's great.

Has anyone heard from bladehq? I havent received a shipping notice or have my card charged for it.

Gotta say that black handled one seems to accentuate the shape better.

I just snagged one online for $124.95 plus shipping. sold out now, so i was just in time! cant wait to get it! :D

I agree with the other poster in that I see no appeal for this knife. Impractical blade shape/length and it looks silly to boot. I can see buying the occasional silly knife just for the hell of it but not for $125.

It's in demand enough that even though they just came out, it is hard to find one(for a decent price anyway) :D

That is the nice thing about Spyderco, they have enough different knife models that appeal to everyone. You might not like the Dodo, but other people own several of them.

The dodo is just a beautiful knife ive always wanted one but i never wanted to dole out that much

Got an email today from KC. It said: "Your KnifeCenter.com Order # 3050xx Has Shipped!" I said: woohoo! :D I figured my preorder was so late that it would not get filled. I'm glad I was wrong.
