These blocks are Maple Burl cut the other way for a totally different look. (Stabilized by K&G)
Usually with Maple burl you want to cut it "Flatsawn" to show off the eyes and bubble burl figure.
I cut these blocks "Quartersawn" for a completely different look. These blocks show the normal burl figure on the top and bottom edges and super bold curly figure on the faces. These blocks will look best on hidden tang knives where the handle shows all 4 surfaces of the wood.
