The other ZT no one is talking about! ZT0456

It has been over 18 months since I first put up this post. I have to say I still stand by everything I said in the original post. I swapped my 456 out of my rotation a few months ago for work research. A few weeks ago I added it back in and just fell in love all over again. I have of course customized it to my liking several different times but it is still the original 456 I kept when they first came in.

Bringing this one to the top to say that I just possession of a new 0456 and my first impression is that it's an awesome knife.

Blade well centered, grind is well done, edge and bevel more than acceptable and the blade flies out like a rocket. Feels great in the hand too.

On top of that, it only weighs an 1/8 ounce more than my 0550 which finds itself in the pocket often and is one of my favorite production knives.

Glad I took a chance on this gussied up ZT. It appears to be a keeper. If I get tired of the looks as delivered, I'll send it to my buddy @atony for a bead blast and a makeover.

Great knife but reason I walked away is mainly the weight. It is a smaller knife but weighs a ton. If only they had milled those handles and got the weight down an ounce. I would still have mine today if that were the case. Love love love the flipping action and blade.

It doesn't feel any heavier to me than the 0550 and the size is virtually the same. No doubt the G10 gives better grip under less than ideal circumstances.

Still...I'm excited. I thought I was going to feel let down with it...and if anything, I like it more than I expected to.

This. If it didn't have metal scales, I'd consider it... that would probably also reduce the weight?

Unless they just slapped G10 on top of the titanium scales like on the Hinderer 0550 which is only 1/8 oz. lighter. But yeah, hard to argue your point.

Love mine... And having the anodized flag on it make me even happier... To me, the weight is not an issue.

Lateck,
