After doing some reading here I noticed that some people talking:
"Sebenza (plain) is ugly but practical"

I want to tell everybody that it is NOT ugly!!! The precision and outlook is perfect! It is useful pearl in my collection and no MoD or Microtech can beat it! The point is you have to look closely at the small details in sunshine...

let's praise the quality...which is everything! :)

I agree with you wholeheartedly. IMHO, the Sebbie is a masterpiece of utilitarian elegance. I doubt I will ever find a knife that reaches, much less surpasses, the level of admiration that I have for the Sebbie.

I have loved the looks of the Sebenza ever since the first time I saw a picture of one.

Me too. I have never understood why people think it's ugly. If I didn't know any better I would think that its great looks are part of the reason why it is so popular. In reality, it apparently is popular despite that fact that many find it rather unattractive.

Very true - even Sebenza die hards sometimes affectionatly refer to it as a "grey t*rd". Not in my book - ever see a brown Sebenza on your front lawn?

Anyway, they remind me of Shaker style furniture - great lines, minimalist, not gaudy, functionally excellent.

BTW, glorfindel, those are some killer pictures. What kind of camera/lens are you using to get that detail and resolution?

I don't see them as ugly at all, practical yes ugly no. Some are better looking than others with graphics and such but how can something so simply perfect in design be ugly?

Love is blindness… but with this kind of pictures I’m happy to have two good eyes…
The Sebenza is not UGLY !!! (I love my Sebenzas)
:D

Pictures of sebenza regular was dane by one fella from polish forum...and Fuji Finepix S7000 was in action.
Such a details and sharpness is a result of combination of good digital camera and some experience in photography. But I think that average-class digital camera can handle it without problem...it's a matter of amount of light and composition.

next pics if you like: those are mine...

Here is a picture of my small regular Sebenza. Just like most people here I can't see how anyone could call this ugly.

Quality, precision, simpicity, reliability, durability, performance, good looks. (which are subjective) although I personally love the looks of the seb.
What else is there in a man made object?
Not much. I saw the pics of the green beret and thought that the handle didn't look too comfortable. I saw one in person through the glass of a local knife store and saw it had palm swells. I asked to see it, and upon handling it was pleasantly suprised at how great it felt in the hand.

following pics are not mine but I like them very much...achhhh the quality...the quality...

glorfindel, glad to see the calfskin pouch in one of your pics. I ordered one (large sebenza size) for my folders and I love it. I don't see it very much in pics around here, but for those of us who don't like clips on knives, it's a great little item. I don't [yet] own a Sebbie, but I use the pouch for my Lochsa and Obenauf folders.

I'm just about to order the small pouch from CRK. BTW, very nice photos, whoever took 'em did a great job!

Love the plain more than anyother fancy graphic models!

Right there with you. I think there’s a straightforward and elegant dignity that is conveyed by a plain Sebbie.

ah yes, i miss her sooooooo much. BTW my wife is SERIOUSLY pissed off about me trading it. as to my end, it has been great havent been able to do much with the AS, but the basic 9 has about three notches on it from taking out trees. a couple buddies and i were in the local forrest and found a log about 11 or 12 inch dia. and chopped it in half, busse is still sharp as hell. thanks again man.

and just to stay on topic, anyone who thinks a sebbie is ugly is just plain freaking crazy.

I think Shakeaspeare said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I behold my Sebbie and I find it very beautitul :) Best folder i ever owned.

Someone should write an ode to the sebenza.
