the overlooked Cocobola!

Beautiful Knife for sure, I am the opposite. Very allergic to Cocobola and Ebony but fine with Ironwood. I noticed the same thing that Stuart mentioned at first glance, seems wider than usual where the Wood meets the Guard.

Beautiful all the way around.

That is weird because cocobolo is one of the woods that the most people have a problem with. Mango may be worse because it has trace amounts of the same stuff you find in poison ivy, but cocobolo gets used a lot more by folks like us.

Matt,

Beautiful bowie. Cocobolo sapwood is very light colored-- I believe that's all heartwood. It just has contrasting dark bands. I like it.

The execution of your hamon is exceptional as usual, however your blade forward images that highlight such never seem to give a good look of the overall knife
from a profile and proportion perspective.
Cocobolo is one of my favorite handle woods. I have several pieces utilizing Cocobolo in scale and tang through construction and have never had a shrinking problem.
I've had good luck with handle materials in general though. I do prefer the darker and more figured Cocobolo as opposed to the light.
