The Oversharpened Hall of Fame

From an old Belknap catalog. Oversharpened Congress knife.

Here's a picture I've always liked. I don't know if it's oversharpened, but you can tell this one's a user. Double points for using a custom. Maybe even triple because someone actually had the gumption to use a Bose knife.

Those "knife sharpeners" that were built into the old electric can openers ate many a knife.

My mother used one of those for a long time, to 'touch up' her kitchen knives. Long before I knew anything about sharpening, that awful grinding sound convinced me it was just wrong. Hated that sound. I think even she wised up to it eventually, as she just stopped using it at some point.

I have always used pretty fine stones to keep my knives sharp and I have a lot that get rotated, so no pics from me of my personal knives.

Now, if I could find the ones I threw in the garbage when I first learned to use a belt sander...:barf::barf:

I saw what looked like a really nice Remington slipjoint over the holidays, and found out the blades were just toothpicks. Handle is in excellent shape, blades were a little overused ;). Going to have to get back up there and take a picture.

I saw this one on that big auction site sometime last year. I liked it so much I had to keep a copy of the pic. I think the description said something like "shows some signs of use." :p

These are mine. My Papaw gave me this many years ago. The top one is the one he gave me, the bottom was his. It's like a before and after pic.

Hi guys!

Theese knives all look great! Well used, but kept in a good shape. I think it´s not easy getting a good edge on such highly honed and sharpend knives. A lot of material must have been removed, getting the angle. :)

Kind regards
Andi

This is not as old as the other knives posted, but it was carried by me for 20+ years. The scales are now worn down (very slick) and the blade has turned into a wharncliffe. Definitely pocket worn. :)

For some reason I just really dig this knife. Trying to get an old 309 off the bay at the moment

I remember these from a previous post, very cool! If i remember correctly you said your father filed the back of it to make the blade go back a bit? there's a lot of character in those knives

That's so clean and well cared for, it looks like a new blade style, maybe a Vanguard clip? Who knows this may start something...
