The Paramilitary 2 is great.....but

I'm thinking of picking up a Paramilitary 2 this weekend. I live in Canada and can buy it at my go to shop for $118. What I want to know is does anyone have anything bad to say about this blade?? I already know what's great about it but is there anything bad I should know before making the buy?

The worst thing I can think to say about it is that it's bigger than a lot of people would like to carry on a regular basis. But I feel that it carries a lot smaller than its actual size. I can't make myself carry anything else since I got mine.

The bushing pivot is the deal breaker for me. I mean, how much smoother do you want it from the old para 1? Smoother would be nicer except for a tendency to blade play that I'd rather not have.

Zero play in mine and it is as smooth and fluid as it can be.

Agreed. No blade play here and it's super smooth and just falls closed when the lock is disengaged. Speaking of disengaging the lock, mine was really sticky from the factory but has since smoothed out a bit.

The only thing bad I have to say about the Para 2 is that I ordered it on Monday, and it's still not here.:D

I just got a DLC blade. This thing is perfected man.. Perfect utility knife...
Get it. Enjoy it.

Mine had blade play and tightening it down didn't help. The lock wasn't going to fail though, it felt secure.

Side to side play that can't be adjusted away with tightening the pivot. I would say not every knife has that but for the occasional one, you have to live with it or exchange it. Exchanging is not a option for me with my location. Same thing with the manix 2 for me. I don't want to take the risk. Para 1 is good enough for me.

Vertical and horizontal blade play has never been an issue on any para I have owned or sold. Probably a dozen.
If you are comfortable, I would say take the para 2 apart from the opposite the lock side... Removing only the screws on this side of the knife. ( Should keep ya from messin it up, it can be hard to seat the lock properly when fully disassembled)
Put it back together first tightening the blade stop pin on both sides. Set them at tight as you comfortably can.
Then crank down on the pivot screws..
I did this after I got mine... I used blue lock tite.. Still have a little room for adjustment... If I remove the tension of the lock bar, the blade will just barely free fall. Im simply not a fan of sending my knife back to the company. Good Luck.

Great EDC! I thought it was going to be a little large for my taste but after a weekend of constant carry/use it hasn't left my right front pocket. Surprisingly, for it's size it is very unobtrusive. Go get one before they disappear again! ;)

Same for me. I held off buying it for a looooong time b/c of the size worry. It is nice in the pocket! It's for sure my max size for carry- I let the Gayle Bradley go b/c of this too and am so pleased with the size and carry of the para 2!

A negtive? If it had a somewhat thicker tip? But I'm reaching...

Thanks for the feed back, I'm REALLY picky about lock up so I'll have to check it out in hand this Saturday...The other option is for the same price I could get a Native 3, Dragonfly and Ladybug...decisions decisions

The blade shape and overall styling and design of the handle come together to make it a very useful and comfortable cutting system. If there is one thing I hate about it I guess since buying my first Para Military 2 that its how if I go to the safe to trade out a knife for a while and carry a different one I end up struggling there at the safe door while having an internal dialogue going back and forth in my mind as to if I really want to part with the Para 2 or not. 9 times out of 10 I grab the other knife and keep the Para Military 2 in the other pocket even though I know I don't need it and probably should put it back up for a while. :D
