The Past Lives of Penknives: By way of an introduction.

Welcome Blake the blade . talking about knives bringing back memory's . the top knife in your second picture brought back memory's for me . I got the same knife when I was about 8 years old on a holiday to prestating in Wales . it was the year they had been an environmental disaster and the beaches were coved with jelly fish . this was a time in the UK when knives were plenty . and you could get them from gift shops and fishing shops .even the post office sold them :) so thank you for my trip down memory lane .

Hey GT, I've added a thread on the traditionals sub-forum regarding my Opinel: Opinel Modification: Scratch Carving. Hope its of interest.

Thanks R.c.s, my pleasure. I must admit I didn't own this particular knife as a child, but it was one that I coveted. I bought it at a boot-sale recently and the bloke (who was frankly a miserable git) would not take a penny less than a tenner, which seemed like a lot of money but it was a nice clean one and the child in me wouldn't let me walk away. And yeah, I do vaguely remember that jelly fish thing. Nice talking to you mate.

Have you still got that knife RCS?

No and I don't remember what happened to it . I had about 8 or 9 knives back then but my mother and father were both in the forces . so we did a lot of moveing around and they were lost over the years . but you never know that one mite of been mine ;) :D

Yes we are the same age you and I .I remember going down to the beach and not being able too put a foot between the jelly fish . it was a very strange site indeed
but I can tell you this that knife wasn't a tenner back then . there would of been no chance of my dad coughing up that much for it :D
