The PEN is mightier than the SWORD? (TNT content) :)

Sas, may I compliment you on your excellent photography. I will not compliment the items contained in those photos, as they make me jelous. :)

Forgot to post about pens. I have a mont blanc 149 that I got a long time ago. I've never really used it because its a medium nib and the line is just way to thick for my tastes. Plus I hear there are better pens out there for the money than Mont Blancs. Maybe I'll sell this one and buy a Pelican or Waterman one day.

Yes sas, nice... photography. That Reeve is beautiful. I shouldn't have opened this thread, next I'll be getting expensive watches and pens too, the madness will never end..

Glen,

Thank you for the compliment on my pairing. I do like the flighter for its reliability despite being fifty-plus years old. When I bought it, I flushed it, filled it, and started writing. No problems.

Sas, you have obviously trumped everyone with your excellent photos and choices. I prefer your IWC, vacumatic, and mayo combo. It looks like your groups are in order of most casual to most "dressed up". All good choices.

Thanks for starting this thread Glen. I hope more photos are posted.

Thanks all for your compliments. No intention to trump, just pleased to share with others that share this particular dementia...

Most everything is packed up for a move, but eventually I'll do some more of these--many other pens, new knives, and a couple of other watches.

Oh, I like flashlights as well. Don't know why these things all seem to come together, but it seems to be a shared affliction.

I've subscribed to this thread so I can watch for additions, either from sas or other forum members. I'm going to try and figure out a way to post a photo as well.

By the way sas, I am also a fan of "the prisoner" and have the complete series on dvd. I don't know if there is a connection to the knife pen stuff or not but I thought it was interesting.

Whoa -- more great combos, all. Even more proof that knifeknuts are "civilized" (except maybe that Mayo guy :)). Thanks esp. to SAS for sharing your choice combos -- and beautiful resolution photos to match your tastes.

Need to get that d*mn digital camera back from my brother...!

Does anyone know of any ink pen, especially fountain pen, discussion boards? I just got into them and have a lot to learn. Thanks.

Re: previous post by me

I'll bet Tom can make a smile on a sheath of paper with the upper tool in the pic.

AFIK the is even a TNT-haldle-scale that has been made with such a tool.

Raven,
Join the zosslist. Info is located at zoss.com/pen.htm. I use the digest version, which comes in my email about three times a day. Another of my favorite links is penhero.com. Jim has an extensive links page that he updates frequently.

Caution! Fountain pens are just as addictive as knives. Fair warning.

Thanks Gary but too late! I've got a Cartier and MB now and two Cartiers coming in the mail. Thanks for the links.

Too late. I had both addiction since I was a kid. I just didn't have the means to get one! :D

The Pelikan M800 is the best fp that I have (NOT the most expensive, as I also have a MB Hemingway and other pens), but the best in terms of feed, nib, size and function.

The Zoss and Pentrace lists are really good. The latter's index is a good starting point: www.pentrace.com/index

Another good beginning site is: http://pw1.netcom.com/~danhle/home.html

For vintage pens (great info and restored pens for sale), see David Nishimura's wonderful site: www.vintagepens.com

CCostas -- I agree the Pelikans outwrite pens far beyond their price point. I've had a 600 for only nine months and, admittedly, it lays down a better line than my Serenite for those long writing sessions -- holiday cards, overdue letter to a friend, etc.
