Howdy folks.

I was just wondering if any of you all have found your perfect folding and fixed blade knives? I think that I have found mine. (axes, machetes and special tools don't count)

My perfect folder is a Benchmade Nitrous Stryker in D2. I's opens fast and easy, the edge it takes is fine and stays sharp a long time. It's light enough that I don't notice it and it just plain works.

My perfect fixed blade is a Cold Steel Master Hunter in Carbon V. Mine wears a leather sheath made by gunknifeknut and has a jute/epoxy handle by the same. It's the perfect fixed blade because it's the best compromise between strength and edge geometry. The distal taper makes a huge difference. The steel is easy to sharpen but holds a good edge.

Pictures tomorrow.

When I first came to blade forums 6 years ago I was looking to find a good deal on a good knife (since I had broken my EDC). Since then I have found many good deals on many good knives, but for the most part I think I'm done. And I think I really mean it this time...

...probably.

My 100% knife is the Esee 4. It's just everything. Large enough to likely never ever be under knifed, small enough to conceal and comfortably carry... I just love the thing and I feel so incomplete when I carry other knives instead of it.

Hell, my zt0560 is AMAZING, my BK2 is SUPER AWESOME, my PM2 is FANTASTIC, and my Junglas KICKS ALL BUTT.... But the Esee 4 is perfect.

Chris, where does your Douk Douk fit in compared to the Stryker? Fun change of pace or close contender?

Can't say I have had any folders or fixed blades yet that I would call the one...always want to change the design a bit. Only average about one knife per 10-12 months so it is a slow journey.

I already have my perfect folding knives:

Blue para2 sprint with m390 steel (i'm considering adding cuscadi grips to this)
Mini M4 ritter with carbon fiber cuscadi scales.

My "best" knife changes about every 3 hours. I don't really want to settle on just one. Part of my daily fun is figuring out what knife to carry.

Folder: Mini Ritter M4 with Wilkins scales. (second are my Curtiss Nanos)

Fixed: Fallkniven F1 (second is my Busse Magnum Bear Cub with modified spine for fire steel striking)

Well, there is my BK2, its my "the knife", you know, the one we seek that will handle all situations adequately. Its been there since I found it, not the best at anything but works well for everything, IMO.

My 561 is a great folder, and I'm having a hard time not putting it in my pocket everyday. Been like that since I got it, several months ago. Before that, it was my Hogue EX01, and before that, my 303, and before that, my Paramilitary. So, no, haven't found the perfect one yet, but I think I'm really close.

Fixed blades, I do think I have found one, my Fiddleback Forge Burlap Bushcrafter, but I haven't tried all the fixed blades in the world yet, so, its still up in the air. If find myself putting it on almost daily anymore. Either that, or my Mora Bushcraft Force. Or my BK16. Damn.....

Nope, haven't found my perfect folder or fixed blade yet.

Let the hunt continue.

Fixed has come really close. For me it's the Strider MFS. It's raw, minimal & seems to love being used.

I bought my first sebenza 11 years ago. Personally I think the Lg 21 covers all the folding EDC bases best of any knife I've owned to date. The conflict comes into play where I want to carry a "fun" knife. A major EDC on and off for me has been some flavor of the Strider SnG for the past several years. The PM2 is a reeeeally fun knife but I don't feel as confident in it as I do my SnG. I have a Shirogorov frame lock which is easily the finest knife I've ever owned. Again, I still think the Seb is superior overall. Almost every morning I'll flip the Shirogorov a few times, trying to convince myself, promptly pocketing my SnG. For whatever reason the Shirogorov says "Don't drop me! Don't scratch me!" where the Seb/SnG shrug off drops & each scratch is a reminder that they don't mind the tough love.

Enter reality: I'm looking forward to seeing what the Seb 25 is all about & Spartan has a folder coming out soon that los really nice! Ect, ect., ect...

Glad to see so many people have found their perfect folder and fixed blade.

I found 3 perfect folders;

Hinderer XM18 3.5' Generation 4 20cv spanto blade, Les George VECP, and Shirogorov Model Ninety Five

I pretty much agree with you. I have a Stryker and I like it very much. I have a big group of knives for EDC and I like them all but the Stryker is my favorite right now. I don't go so far as to say it is perfect but for now it is. I have faith in our designers and manufacturers that something better will come along to replace the Stryker.

Nah, not yet. I guess the closest I've come to my ideal folding knife is somewhere around the Spyderco Manix 2 or Para 2, but for some reason I'm still looking for something new.

For fixed blades, no, definitely not. I'm a long way from finding something that suits me well at all, but that's probably because I don't use fixed blades nearly as much as I use folders.

I also love my Nitrous Stryker, but I´ve removed the Nitrous assist. Makes it much nicer and not so agressive knife (much more quiet as well). But my real number one is Benchmade 707 Sequel. What a knife!!!

This knife is really earning my trust. It is also my only knife that doesn't have ANY PROBLEMS. Even minor issues don't exist here.
Light, hard, she will take all kinds of use. Victorinox Pioneer.
Until I get something else, of course. But until then, I'm content with this one. :D

I found my perfect EDC folder - the M390 Para2.
Doesn't mean I won't rotate, and certainly doesn't mean I won't use others when they're more appropriate (0551; Sage1, etc.) But it's one I go to every day.

I don't know if I can have a perfect fixed blade. I think the BK16 comes really close to my "ideal", but then so does my War Dog.
And neither one is an EDC slicer, or a big Chopper. So those are always possiblities in the future.

I EDC'd a Stryker (First and second generation non-assisted) for many years and think it's a great knife. A really great knife. My all time favorite, I guess perfect knife would be the BM AFCK. Any variation.

I love it so much in fact I never use it. Go figure.........
