The perfect knife (knives?)

For me the perfect folder is this Double Action Auto From Matt Disken

As for fixed blades I have to many favorites but this Design from Nick Wheeler for me is a stand out

Folder : Umnumzaan/Paramilitary 2

Medium fixed blade : Swamprat Ratmandu/Fehrman Cold Fury

I don't like a small fix blade since there is a folder and I also don't like a large chopper because I have an axe.

This knife is really earning my trust. It is also my only knife that doesn't have ANY PROBLEMS. Even minor issues don't exist here.
Light, hard, she will take all kinds of use. Victorinox Pioneer.
Until I get something else, of course. But until then, I'm content with this one. :D

I feel ya brother. I have the Wenger standard issue which is pretty much same knife and i love it. Like you said no problems just always ready to do work!!

Folders: Benchmade's... lots of them. I have enough BNIB to last me several lifetimes. So I'm set in the folder department, I just need one more. Seriously.

Fixed Blade: Fehrman Final Judgment. I just need one more. Seriously. :)

Benchmade 710 might be it for me--compact for having 4" of edge, short from edge to spine, comfortable handle, stout but not overly thick blade, nice pointy tip

Picked an M390 one cheap on the exchange cheap because the screw heads were stripped, the backspacer was a bit off because the butt end was used to smash a clay pot, and there were some sharpening scratches. I stonewashed the blade, replaced the backspacer with standoffs, replaced the screws with some t8 heads, keyman'd the handle (except only did three holes so as not to cut into the factory grooves) for a little better grip, and hit the liner jimping with a carbidizer to make it a little more effective. I've had it awhile now, and although I'll carry smaller knives sometimes and buy new ones, the 710 is definitely my favorite.

+1 I change my favorite knife more then a women changes purses.... I was raised by mother . Rat 7 fixed , crk umnumzaan ( but I have only had it for 20 minutes now). Never stay at the comfort suites behind house of blades in ft. Worth if your a knife nut. NEVER!!!

I've come to love the Spyderco Stretch and feel the blade profile is about perfect for a folding knife. My taste may change, but I really can't imagine a better folder for my intended purposes.

WOW- will we ever find the "perfect" knife?

Of the knives I have owned and handled I would have to say the Kershaw Blur is close to perfect EDC. It is thin and strong, with decent steel for the money. It isn't overbearing while in the pocket and isn't so big that it will scare the anti-knife crowd.

Fixed blade- that is tough. I love my new Robert Carter Hunter, it is a D2 "user" knife. But being new to "quality" knives I think I would need to mature before I answer that one. :o

Im feeling that the Sebenza large Insingo is pretty much the perfect EDC knife. Its just a joy of a knife, nothing I would change.

I haven't found 'perfect' yet, but close...

Folder: Emerson MiniCommander (no pictures, but I think everybody's familiar).
Fixed Blade: Busse NMSFNO and/or NWA H.O.S.S. (Heavy Ordnance Sierra Scout built to my specs).

For me, the knife has been the Small Regular Sebenza for about 7 years, but lost the title "ideal" since being discontinued and becoming both more difficult and more expensive to replace as time marches on. As result, I've been on the hunt for a replacement model.

My ideal pocket knife is fairly strong, reliable, easily carried, has quality materials, good F&F, has pride of ownership, simply designed, has a reasonable price, is easily replaced and appealing to me.
That leaves most customs off my list as the ones I like are usually fairly pricey and pretty hard to get. I've found I tend to look for higher-end productions and the Spyderco Techno is checking off many of the boxes on my "list". It's actually doing a better job than my Regualr Sebenza in many ways, as it's more stout, far less pricey and currently very easy to replace.

So, for now, the Techno is tops on my list...

I own an Umnumzaan, a small Sebenza, a Mnandi, a ZT0301, a ZT0350, a ZT0551, a Manix, and many others.

I honestly believe that my humble Buck 110 is the perfect knife.

For fixed blades I'd have to say the Randall 14. The fit and finish, grind lines, etc are all perfect. The handle fits my hand like it was custom made for me, I love using it.

For pocket knife Id probably go with the sak pioneer, I like the broader blade(compared to normal SAKs) and the few tools it has are some of the most useful. It won't leave my pocket no matter what other folding knife I may get.

There should be a rule on this forum that whenever you mention the name of some knife that not everyone has heard about the peron must add a pic. :)

Even though I'll probably never stop buying knives , I have a few that are definately at the very top as my favorite knives.

Blind Horse Bushcrafter in flat grind
Fallkniven S1
Esee 6

and for folders , my Ontario Rat 1's , and the Cold Steel American Lawman.

Choppers , my Ontario SP-51 and BK-9.

There has to be a few , because one knife can't do it all.
