The perfect pair (.)(.) --- of SAK's

I had a Victorinox Outrider that I wanted for the scissors, but the OH Trekker has the thicker blade and liner lock, so I went with that. I still wanted scissors, so I tried pairing it up with a Classic. That worked just fine, but then I discovered the Signature Lite series-- small and light weight like the Classic and the same basic tools, but no tweezers or toothpick (the Trekker has them) and the added function of the pen and LED light.

I think it makes a perfect pair, but how should I carry them? I've tried linking them tail-to-tail with the keychain rings, but it is kind of clumsy. Or should I even try?

I dunno. I like a sak that has pliars, sciscors, saw and blade. Those are my priorities.

Where do you keep them regularly? If they must be together, then I'd second putting them in a special piggyback sheath. If not, I think it'd be good to just put the smaller classic in the pocket, preferably with something useful attached like a Firesteel or mag bag (easier to get to, and more items in one package).

I would consider the leatherman micra for very good, bigger, easier to use scissors in a smaller package - I use mine daily:thumbup:

I would carry the OHT in a belt sheath and the classic in my pocket. Or like someone else said, make a sheath that holds both of them.

my only requirement for a SAK and/or a multi-tool, is that they have a saw and a good sized blade...

i also couldn't stand the fact that the OHT's blade is serrated, in the top portion of the blade... i don't care much for serration's at all... i had them grounded down and now it's perfect... the OHT is one of my favorite's, as well as the farmer, hiker and camper....:D

Yup, I've had Micra for years. I have a Gerber Shortcut that is similar too. I like the small size of the Signature, along with the light and the pen.

FYI, if anyone is considering a Vic Manager, they have a pretty strong magnetic screwdriver-- not good for your compass navigation!

I would definitely attach the small one to something or it can fall out and get lost. I carry a classic in a Normark sheath on my keychain, but keychains get in the way in the woods. :)

Maybe braid a good-sized lanyard for it that would keep it from sliding out.

Attach the small blade at the end of a lanyard for your OHT. Some people put an LED light or boyscout hot spark.

Regardless of how you eventually decide to carry these two, pouches, pockets, lanyards, etc consider placing them on opposite sides of your torso so that you have a blade always (or nearly so) in reach if one arm/hand is injured or otherwise unavailable. Like all suggestions, use or discard as you see fit.

Pretty nice combo by the way.

No, it only comes in a combo edge, with the serrations at the tip.

Esav speaks the truth however it is pretty easy to grind those serrations off if you HATE serrations as I do.

I used my water stones, and some elbow grease and it came out great on my Brothers OHT.

Just takes a little time. I truly with they make them with plain edges to start.

I have a soft spot for the Vic "Farmer". Carry it everyday and comes with the perfect tools IMHO.

I don't like serrations as a rule, but the ones on the Trekker aren't bad-- they are fairly shallow compared to something like a Spyderco. I thought I would wait until it got some wear and tear on it before doing any surgery.

Farmers are a deal. I picked one up at REI Outlet for $20 and it is a lot of knife for that kind of money. It is compact, well made, and has a great selection of tools.

Does the OH Trekker (bottom knife) come with a plain edge main blade?

Vic has heard your requests for a plain edge version. There will be a factory plain edge version coming out this year. I'm not sure on the exact date, contact your local dealer for more details (or visit the SOSAK forum).
