The perfect Survival Knife

The Perfect Survival knife ? It,s a personal thing I guess----But when I go on a walk about I take my Ferhman Peace maker :)

My solution is to sprinkle assorted knives and multi tools throughout our home, vehicles, briefcase, and on my person. Wherever I am (except on a plane), there's a useful knife available. I'm drawn towards utilitarian knives, so any would be useful, if not perfect. That said, I think a stout fixed blade paired with a multi tool is a good combo for just about anything, and I try to have one of each in both our cars.

My current favorite "team" is the Becker Crewman & Leatherman Surge

I have a Schrade knife that can stand up to just about any task. With a thick steel blade and rubber handle, it would be very hard to break.

I'm building two survival packs; one a backpack the other a large bucket. If I'm prepared to survive for three days or more, as humans become thretening searching out food, I need to have two practical knives: one for preparing raw food and one for self defence. Do you have some suggestions?

Any knife will do the food chores and my preference anymore is a folder. My Victorinox lockblade hunter handles the finer wood and food chores. For a combination defense/utility blade, I'd recommend something like the Becker Combat/Utility (BK7).

Personally I would not use a folder for food preparation. There are just too many places for the nasties to hide, and cleaning those areas is somewhat of a fantasy, especially in a survival situation.

Dozier makes a number of knives that would work well as a paring knife. My fav is an Arkansas Traveler.
