it was a good time at pinnacles national park. we just decided to take off for the weekend and go hiking and camping. the park is only about 1 1\2 hours away from the house so it was pretty close to home. the area used to be an old volcano that is no longer active. there is a lot of cliffs spires and other climbable features through the whole park. we saw a ton of climbers on the trail and took a few pics for you. all and all it was a good time! pull up the car and unload, I don't do to much of that.

Great looking trip mate, no ticks this time?

What's the rules for swimming in the reservoir? Being a true Scot any sign of the sun and i'm sweating so I take every opportunity to get in water and cool off.

I'm not sure you can swim in the water. it was a really weird brown color from all the volcanic rock...ha ha no ticks in the neck this time.....

Looks like an absolutely great time

Love that mountain climber close-up ... that's just sick

That place looks like LOTS of fun! Thanks for sharing.

Also, I'm deep in lust with that E.L.K.

What an elegant looking blade.

Right on, looks like you guys had a good time.
I'm gonna have to take a trip out there sometime, I've never been.

Boomstick,

I recently heard about this park and was planning to check it out with my kids. Is the area a relatively easy hike? I'm even more interested in checking it out after this post.

the area is a pretty easy hike... the camp grounds are very kid friendly. they have a pool, store, fire pits, pretty good roads, and alot of places to ride bikes in the camp area....... call in advance to get a camp site..... it gets busy in the summer.

Pinnacles is one of our favorite places, we've got a bunch of pics that look close to yours...love going through the tunnel and climbing the stairs to get to that jewel of a lake. Thanks for sharing, looks like you guys had fun!
