The PirtleMade Picture Thread

I really like those flat stainless screws you use. Your whole methodology is really unique! Which is pretty crazy for a craft as old as leatherworking.

Thank you! That always means a ton from a fellow craftsman as skilled as you ❤️

I learned to work leather over the last 25 years in a bubble with no help from anyone with experience, so I kind of blazed my own trail and made it up as I went along. I have several things I do that I am pretty sure no one else does, including a full submersion soak in my own acrylic blend final finish.

The flat stainless fasteners I use are American made folder pivots from the Schrade factory when they liquidated it. I was fortunate enough to buy their entire inventory, which was a lot, but once they are gone they’re gone.

Honestly it's super clever stuff all around, and yes I'm horribly jealous of those Schrade pivots! So simple but beautiful, the washers are a nice match too. The way you've streamlined the process is again... just super clever and utterly unique ;)

Happy to see you here with your own sub-forum!

A few more from the archives. While going through my photos, I've realized that I have a good number of Pirtle sheaths that I have never photographed... 😬 ☹️

The one, the only, CPK Boot Knife. I swapped this to a Mummert clip shortly after receiving it, and it has remained on there since.

Busse SAR 3 I bought directly from Chad last year. Of course I had to have him make a sheath for it for me! This rig was on my belt for my Alaska fishing trip last year. This was some new blue leather he had just gotten into stock (and he just made a Busse TGS19 sword sheath out of the same stuff for me, but I need to photograph it still).

I will post a few sheaths I have from you.

Thanks for posting these and great to hear from you!

I was there, I just gave up my table this past year so I could spend more time networking. Will likely do the same thing next year, just let me know and we can meet up! If I wasn't out walking I was usually at the Carothers or Hossom tables.
