  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I remember the first thing we did in school every day was to face the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. I've heard a disturbing rumor that this is no longer a common practice in schools these days. I hope this is not true. Does anyone here know?

Why?!? Why would they ban the Pledge of Allegiance? Are these public schools we are talking about here?

Yup- they're banning it left and right. Apparently, the line, "one nation, UNDER GOD " is offensive. Gimme a break! Our money says "In God We Trust", does it not?!? Perhaps these people who are offended by the "G" word should stop using money...any thoughts?

In our school you are required to stand as the pledge is recited, nothing more.

That being said I've only seen a few kids who don't say it. Those who don't are mostly just social malcontents.

When I was in high school, most guys didn't say it, I got strange looks cause i did. It is sad to see the "PC" schools drop it and not even have kids listen to it. What makes this country great though, is that, unfortunately, kids are free to not say it, that is freedom according to the press. I think kids are loosing the sense of patriotism that we used to have.

LOL.:D

Reed, how so?

I think patriotism has seen a great revival among my generation, albeit a trendy one.
