The Police, to me , was the first tactical knife (if I may use that term.) It seems it has been superceded by newer models like the Military, Starmate, Wegner, etc.
This is too bad because the G-10 models are quite nice, especially the flat ground ones. I want to know who stll considers the Police his or her number one knife?

I too regard the G10 police as the best tactical knife that I own. I love the flat ground blade and regard it as the most useful grind on any blade.

The police is still my number one knife. I've carried the same one on duty since 1987. Aside from some discoloration near the tip of the blade from a cocaine field test and the fact that the serrations are getting short from sharpening it's still as tight and holds an edge as well as when it was new.

It's second nature to me to draw it one handed. Because of it's clipped position in my pocket it deploys as fast or faster than any of my automatics.

I've been thinking of picking up a G-10 model to replce my stainless as the serrations get short. How about a police in blue G-10? I kind of like the symbolism...

I did a field test for cocaine with my Spyderco standard. It really gunked up the tip from scraping all the resin out of the crack pipe. I was walking through church the next day with my wife and there was a string hanging off of her dress. She wanted to cut it off so she asked for my knife. (She wasn't carrying one of her own yet.) She looked at it and asked, "What is all that icky stuff?" Without thinking I said, "Cocaine residue." She yelled, "What are you doing with cocaine residue on your knife?!?" Fortunately, we were still in the hall. The only people who noticed were some friends of mine who understood the explaination, but still razz me from time to time about it. Especially when they need to borrow a knife. They make a bid deal about checking the blade and asking if it's clean.

AS a matter of fact, that was my carry knife for today. Flat ground G10 version.
