The Price Threshold

I'm kind of eclectic with my knife carrying. I would have a hard time carrying my $32 Case Curly Maple Peanut, but no problem carrying my $320 CRK Inkosi, or my $115 GEC 15 Harness Jack. I was lucky enough to snag a Northwoods Fremont Jack, and there is no way I will ever be able to bring myself to carry it. And I have numerous more examples....
Haha, it's funny you say that at this particular moment...

I'm coon fingering my new small Inkosi that I got on Monday, while simultaneously chicken eyeing my new Fremont Jack on my coffee table. Same as you, I got the CRK to carry, but the Fremont?? That little treasure is going to be put up for a while. :)

I have some "case queens", like many of us here, but there are certain knives that I have been gifted and are older or they have been modified by dear friends, these I choose to use. Its a way of keeping that memory fresh in my mind. Don't get me wrong, some of my "gifted to me knives" are not for use at all. Mainly because they're one of a kind pieces and in mint condition. Those will always remain among the most special in my collection. Each time I pick one of these special knives up I'm reminded of how gracious that person was to give away one their prized pieces. Whether from a friend or one dearly departed, they all mean the same to me! Memories like this give us something a bit more personal than just a knife, evidence of a life well lived by all those dear friends.
