Oh no, don’t tell me that’s a 0392WC under that other scrap metalIt's great to have choices, and my choice for folder handles will always be titanium whenever possible.

enlighten me on the one with g10 next to the chef please
looks like he smashed as much blade length into that design as he could.Rock Lobster. Blade HQ special.
The original was another everyone hated it till it was discontinued and then it got popular. Design by Jens Anso.
It's one of my favourite practical knives.looks like he smashed as much blade length into that design as he could.
new one to chase thanks.
....Same thing for the latest fad "super" steel. Stamp 20CV or Magnacut on the blade and you can charge twice as much. Does the material actually costs that much more than CPM154, etc? Doubt it....
Don’t forget the dust is flammable too. Adding more labor and safety protocols, adding more cost. Also Titanium is much harder on tools and abrasives Which can drive the price up
While those are valid points, I still think there is a hefty "marketing markup" when a company sells a knife in the latest popular steel. There is a great thread going on regarding how much the cost of the steel itself impacts the overall cost of the knife.
The summary is that, besides the cost of the steel, you have to take into consideration the ease of working each particular alloy. From the cutting/grinding to the HT to the final polisthing... Some steels eat through mills and abrasives and require complex HT... That is much more important than the cost of the steel itself.

That's also very very true! I will not deny it! The easiest way to avoid paying premium... is to stay away from the latest super-steels... until something new comes out and then is not such a novelty any more! While those are valid points, I still think there is a hefty "marketing markup" when a company sells a knife in the latest popular steel.
