I am looking for a folding knife that has the following criteria:

1. Blade must be between 3.0 and 3.75 inches long.
2. Locking system cannot be a liner lock or lockback.
3. Handle must be G-10 or Micarta or Titanium or Aluminum or Carbon Fiber.
4. Either the blade or the handle must have a good hand guard to prevent a hand from slipping on to the sharp part of the blade.
5. Cannot be a SOG, Cold Steel, Buck, REKAT, Schrade, or CRTK
6. Blade steel must be ATS-34, CPM4440(or420?)V, 154CM, BG42, VG10, M2, or better.
7. Must be a “tactical” type of knife, that is not a thin, gentlemen’s knife.
8. No tanto, Hawk's bill, wharcliffe, or chisel ground blade.
9. Must be a straight edge, no serrations.

Any suggestions? Does this knife exist?

Thanks!

I would say the Benchmade 710, but it doesn't have a guard. How about the Spyderco Gunting?

Except for the guard (the value of which I question), sounds like you need a Sebenza or TNT.

next to the lock, the guard is my most important criteria.

Too many handles allow one's hand to slip up on to the blade.

Unexceptable.

Get an Al Mar SERE 2k and pretend it is not a linerlock...it's lock is as solid as they come, it's action is as good as they get.
Blade is VG-10, plain edge double ground.

Or a Microtech SOCOM-E... microbar lock (it looks like a liner lock, but once you played with it, you'll know better :D

Or MOD CQD with the plunge lock. But you better have big hands for that one.

spyderco Gunting, spydie chinook (it's a lockback, but if you can doubt this lock, you are friggin' paranoid :D ).

I think what you're looking for is an integral lock with a large finger-groove.
will that do instead of a guard?
I think Emerson knives has a commander with an integral lock available.
I hope this helps.

I have looked at the Al Mar SERE, and I do agree that it is very close to what I desire.

Also, if the was an Emerson with an integral lock, I would be interested in seeing a picture of it. Is there a site I could look?

On knifeart.com there was an integral lock Wegner design that really blew me away, as I love that design. At the time, they were all out of those. I went looking for it again today, and I cannot find it anywhere on their site. Anyone know where I could find one of these? It is a integral lock/all titanium version of the one Spyderco put out a few years back. Great design, but the one I bought had too much blade play on the liner lock, so I got rid of it.

There is no Emerson with an intergral lock as standard.

If you have seen one or have a picture it will be of a production knife that has been modified. I seem to remember that this was one of the projects that we ran in the Emerson Forum a while back.

:D :D :D

How about a Camillus EDC (talonite is my favorite!) It has a deep finger groove that keeps your grip well back of the blade. OR, go one better and get the custom version!!! I think there is a carbon fiber version on the custom sale forums with 420V!!:D  :D

I did see pics!!!!
of the integral commander that is.
They jokeingly called it the ComBenza.
You'll have to inquire at the Emerson knives forum for more info.

Hey!!!
What about mission knives?
Don't they have one like that?
Have you looked CRKT S2?
I'm going to go have a look myself
see you soon.

Forget about that no REKAT BS and get yourself a Carnivour.:).
