Ok, my question is, if you can only keep one which one would you keep. The XM-18 3.5 or 3". My thinking is the 3" is harder to find and may cost more to replace and yet maybe little to small for some jobs. I think the 3.5 is a better EDC and will work as a 3" if need but a 3" will not work as a 3.5". Any and all thoughts are welcome. I do not care about the finish just the size. I have both but one must go and break my heart. Both are spanto grind. Thanks in advance for everyone thoughts.

I was considering the same just the other day, In my opinion, The 3 is just too small.
If I could, I'd have one of each but if I could only have one, Between the 3 or 3.5, I'd keep the 3.5.

Can there be a couple of preliminary questions in order to render the most thoughtful input?
If Yes then;
What is the timeframe (in length) of the solo status?
What is your normal day both clothing as well as activity?
What is your general physical size?

Also consider this:
Direct from the Shop are soon 3", followed by 24, then 3.5". At least that is belived to be the order. It will take awhile to replace a 3.5".
Personally, I could not part with either. I travel and some knife laws bring on a 3" max length rule. But the 3.5 is perfect EDC size for so many tasks.

Well, you did ask "If you could only keep one" So, my answer for me - No contest, I keep the 3.5"

Unless you wear nice clothes/flimsy sports wear most of the time, are unusually small, or rarely need a larger knife - you keep the 3.5" Too.

I have oddly large hands......XM18 3"?

Well I would not want anything less than your thoughtful input..so.
I hope not longer that 6 months.
Usually jeans, golf shirt and shoes/socks.
When I look in the mirror I see 6'6" and 245 lbs. but they tell me I am 5'9" 180...go figure how they see that.

I see nothing there to change the prior input based on the assumptions, the facts coincided.
The 3.5" is the "porage".

I would keep the 3.5".
I plan to pick up a 3" but it is only for summer carry when I'm sporting just a thong.:thumbup:

Now, that is a good example BH. IF that was you at the pool, I would absolutely suggest a 3".......

(XM18 3")

My Swiss swatt XM any day of the week ! So that would classify a 3.5" for me.

Come on that guy is begging for a 3 inch!
Need2Know you know you liked it. :D
Seriously though in the summer I'm just wearing shorts so it's a necker or a small seb. Anything bigger will pull your shorts down over your arse and then the dude in the pink thong will be after you.
BTW I dumped 14 knives over the past 2 days one of which was my small seb because I will be replacing it with a 3" XM-18 for summer carry.:thumbup:

NO! Don't like it.
I have lived enough life to know my likes and dislikes, that falls in the latter catagory.

Now, back to knives;
Good choice on the 3" summer carry. But for me 3" will be a goto when the 3.5 and 24 can't go with me. Silly laws in silly places.

Still think 3.5 gets most posters vote to the oringinal question here.

I gotta dump some knives.... fund new Hinderers and they just don't (and won't ever get carried) whats the point in them just sitting.
