The REK Sparrow front flipper thread

Josh, these are going to be epic! I can’t wait! I’m already figuring out how to tell the wife I need a midtech along with my custom, lol!

Yes, they are going to be using skiffs... They use a 3/16 pivot and the bearings are .304" OD. I was able to snag some of the 16 ball ones and they are .0395" thick to retain the slim frame profile I was going for with the Sparrow.

Started a new custom... gonna do timascus pivot collars, backspacer, and clip. Not sure on texture for the scales or finish just yet - any ideas?!

For the blade I was gonna do a clip point and hand-rubbed finish.

yeah, imo that's the only way to finish timascus! I had to make the collars removeable so I can finish them out. yeah that DLCP would be awesome for sure haha
 
REK Knives REK Knives ok, I know that DLC is a stretch...lol. How about a good milling pattern on the scales? Think Arius, Burger Ti, CRK Umnumzaan, frag pattern, or even a Holt type feather pattern. Accompany that w/ glass blasted that would be pretty sweet too. So many options. Make ya head spin. 😋

I can only do so much on a manual mill hahaha, but a frag pattern could be sweet!

True, true. I'm a bit spoiled w/ my Haas mill & Mastercam. My ideas tend to be a bit somewhat more limitless. If it's a frag pattern, I'd suggest not 0.625" Dp like Dave's F3 frag. Awesome looks & grip, but a pocket shredder. Maybe somewhere round 0.320" Dp. So many ideas & possibilities I'm sure whatever you decide will be awesome. One single reason your designs are so good is because they are timeless. This is why all the GOATs are still...great.

A few Sparrow midtechs dropped the other day! Super stoked to make more, they seem to have been a big hit. I did 4 different scale textures with these to see what's most popular. What is everyone's favorite?
