The Road To CRK...

You are correct. I agree 100%. Any knife will cut. Any will do most jobs well enough for the simple man. It's the form along with fit and finish for me. I've had a Benchmade 940(Didn't seem worth it) A Bradley Alias II(Horrible sticky lock for me. Once in hand, eh) And recently the ZT 0560(great! Just not my style)

Truthfully, will I realize a huge difference between the 0560 and Insingo? Maybe some within the tolerances.....no pun intended. Not much though. Prefer something smoother in hand. :jerkit: ha

FYI, I EDC a Spyderco Sage 1. I love it. Perfect for me. Sold my Sage 2&3 along with the ZT for a possible CRK purchase. Loved all three. They just didn't scratch that itch yet.

I never have any real issue with what people use or carry because I really don't care.

It's when some try and make those $5 or $10 knives sound like they are the best in the world and just as good as some $400 knives is when I start laughing.

They can fool themselves all they want, but some of us are a lot smarter than that.

Good point...I get that's from time
To time..

Hilarious. I see it all the time on youtube responses and on here. Some get mad at the person showing off a high end knife, usually a CRK. It angers people. I have never really witnessed anyone bragging. They are just excited like a kid in a candy shop. Everyone likes different candy. When someone scoffs at a Sebenza and says, "My Gerber does the same thing." You have to just smile and not entertain those thoughts. Go with Gerber, who cares. Or whomever. I think some get stuck on the price vs. workmanship. Not realizing the difference between production/semi/custom.

If there was a way to watch some examples of these being made/maufactured we would all have a different appreciation. More insight. I'm getting too nerdy again, like always. It amazes me what some can do with machines. It amazes me how this powdered steel is made! Before the blade....

Just like the OP, I was always searching for that "one" knife. My Sebenza was the first knife that kicked everything else out of my pocket. I was very happy with it but like any knife nut, I knew I'd never stop. So, I picked up an SnG which kicked the Sebenza out of my pocket. Then, the stars aligned and I was able to get a 3.5" XM-18. For me, the XM-18 is "that" knife. I haven't been thinking about getting another carry knife since getting it. It's totally personal preference but the XM-18 to me is better than the Sebenza. Bear in mind, the "table price" for a Hinderer (3.5" XM) is $385 which is less than a large Sebenza. Overall, it has been more satisfying to me than the Sebenza. The fit and finish is just as good (if not better) than that of CRK yet it's such a robust, tank of a folder. Perhaps that's not what you prefer and that is fine but IMO, there's something about the smoothness of the operation crossed with the rugedness that just works. Comparatively, the Sebenza feels dainty. Bottom line, you may (like me) think CRK is the end-all, be-all but it is just the beginning. I know some people move beyond CRK and settle back and just collect them but I don't forsee that happening to me. I actually recently traded my Sebenza towards my first custom folder and I can say right now, I am SCREWED! Now I'm going to start looking at customs more....and start selling some organs since there is no way I can afford a collection of high-dollar customs.

Hilarious drop! I agree with you. I would buy an XM-18 with Blue G-10 if I could find one at that price point. Obviously, I'm looking at around $700-800, if I find one? Wish I still was in the Army. Doesn't he sell to active police and military only? Huge waiting list? I assume most Hinderer owners were CRK first....which is my whole point.:D

$700-$800 is right about what you'll pay on the secondary. He does only sell directly to active LEO's/Military, Firefighters, EMS etc. You can win the chance to buy one at "table price" in one of the lottos at any of the shows he attends. I paid $400 cash and traded an Emerson Micro Commander for mine. Yes, I overpaid but still over $200 less than what they normally go for so I jumped on it. Even at ~$500 I think its a great knife. However, until you can find one, the Sebenza is an excellent knife as well. The CRK Ti-Lock is also a very cool knife as well...may have to pick one up eventually.

Was considering used...now I think I want that new car smell. Large Insingo, love that blade shape. Calling my name. I thought about the small....but...

I loved my sebenzas and never really payed attention to any other company, but now Ive gone back to spydercos (sprints specifically) and ZTs and havent regrated any of it. Sebenzas are nice but for the price Ill keep the 2 sebenzas I have and get more spydercos and zts, and maybe a custom Laconico.

I had a small Insingo myself. Much prefer the blade over the standard shape. As for small vs. large, I liked the small for EDC but If I had the choice, I'd probably get a large one. Have you checked out the Wilson Combat Starbenzas though? Really cool knives.

No, I haven't. I will go and look. Thanks

Yeah, once I buy this, I won't be buying another for a long time. It's then back to Spydies or whatever. I really like the traditional slipjoint right now. Look up a company called GEC. Amazing knives. Great collectors. Crack!

I think I'll skip the CRK step entirely and just go straight to customs from the HTM's... Although I do still love the BM and Spyderco knives that I have. There are a couple that make it into my pocket as a backup every once in a while.

I get that too from time to time on my YT channel..... As in My $9 Carbon Steel blah, blah, blah can do that same thing, blah, blah, blah....

I never even respond to those, not even worth the effort...
