The Chris Reeve Knives Sebenza is a very well designed and executed knife. I have been using one on an almost daily basis for close to three years now without any kind of trouble with the locking mechanism or action of the knife, and the blade has suffered no damage from those years of use. The handle is versatile enough to allow use of the knife with various grips, and the simple drop point blade can easily be applied to a variety of tasks.

There is no doubt that the Sebenza is a well made knife.
If there is a fault to find then it would be the cost of it.

But if it were cheaper Chris wouldn't be able to make enough
would he??

James......are you sure????????? :p :p :p
and he cant make enough at the price they are right now!!

He can't? It's not like he makes them all by himself. Maybe he could hire a couple more folks and make enough. Selling more can't be bad, right? No doubt, 2 slabs of Ti with a BG42 piece in betweeen. Not much to go wrong there.

Hater!!!!!!!!! ;)

It's so refreshing to see comments like this, ESPECIALLY about the Sebenza. It's only a knife for God's sake, not a cure for cancer.

(Shane dons his flameproof suit and runs like hell..... )

I have a Large Tanto and a Box Elder Woodie and they are just SO WELL MADE!!! Real high quality made knives. Just incredible. Now I am thinking of adding the MANDI to my collection.

CR makes one of the best folders available.

So does TOPS, Strider, Al Mar and many more. I just love this stuff!

Hopefully Busse will be coming out with something soon too!

He puts out about 20 sebenzas per day. He also has a bunch of other products to make. For all those people who think it is duck soup to make a knife like that.....
I challenge you...........JUST TRY IT!
It is VERY difficult... I know. :) :) :)

Well, pulling a rabitt from a hat is not kids play......well, okay. Maybe it is. :D BTW, I don't hate the Sebenza. The "not much to go wrong" comment was not a slam. Simple design=reliable. There are some things I just like not so much, and I like my EDC better than any other. Never let it be said that I hate any knife. They are like women, what floats ones boat, may sink another. In the end, only you can say for yourself.

Well then, you're just not tryin' hard enough!!!

I must clarify my previous comments in my post above. I never meant to imply the Sebenza wasn't a good knife - or even hard to make. I am not a knife maker (collective sigh of relief resounds throughout the forum) but I still appreciate a well crafted product.

But it is still ONLY a knife... :p

OK - then let's talk about the Sebenza some more.

Sounds like fun. Any constructive comments that haven't been covered in this thread?

I ahve never seen a real Sebenza, let alone owned one. I realize taht the tolerances are probably very tight, and the integral lock is suposed t be incredibly strong. But aside from sheer sturdiness, what makes the knife stand out? I mean to say, there are hundreds if not thousands of locking folder designs out there, so why ahs this one developed such a following?

What a truly excellent question. Since the knife is a fairly limited item the percentage of the knife buying public that actually own them is probably small, so it is probably not a large following even within that community.

I think the first part of your question answer the latter part.

So far, you guys are just talking about the lock. Let us look....beside the lock just for a moment. You miss the most crucial part of what makes a knife a knife...The Blade! Sebenzas are known for their factory sharpness (my Umfaan is sharper than even my Spydies and thats a hell of an accomplishment) and their ability to stay super sharp. And, like St.James mentioned the blade design can't be beat. I have only owned 2 Reeves (a small Sebbie which I traded (stupid, stupid, stupid) and my Umfaan) , but I can tell you. You Can Feel The Difference! Get one and you WILL understand!

had to sharpen it as soon as I opened it....not up to par, which is surprising as usually they come pretty sharp...
but then, I am a LITTLE picky about that part!!! :) :p :)

Why name yourself "45-1911", it's only a gun for god's sake :p

Only kidding, 1911 and Sebenza go nice together :)

Martin

Well Tom, maybe by comparison to a TNT or one of your other beauties, a Sebbie can be seen as dull. I don't know for sure. But, maybe by this summer!!!:D :D :D
