The Sergeant IS the Army

Wow, congrats. I have enormous respect for the commitment you have made. Sergeants really are invaluable.

Congratulations on the promotion. Be the best at your job and ensure that your Joes are the best at theirs. Remember, you're training the guys who will fill your shoes in the future. And keep your head on a swivel. If you keep your head down, you can't see the guy walking up to put a round in the top of it.

BTW, I gave my Son, who was promoted to SGT on 01 October the same advice.

You must be very proud of your son, congrats on raising him right. I appreciate the advise, and that goes for everyone who's posted. My dad was an Air Force E-5 before going to OCS so it's a really cool thing to be able to share with him.

I have a bit of time to think about my promotion gift to myself, so I think an email to Amy may be in order to see what the CS can help me with.

Thank you for your service. Godspeed and remember you are never alone.

Stephen, Congrats on dropping the bird turd and moving to the three up!!! Stay in touch Son you know where I'm at. God Speed, stay safe and see ya when you get back.

Stephan,
After watching several show's on Afganistan and what we are doing there, Please be careful. From what I saw, it's a bunch of cowards that will not fight, but set up IED's for our soldier's to stumble into. For people to be free, They have to want it, fight for it, even die for it. I just did not see that attitude with the people over there so, just keep it in perpective and stay safe.

I won't get into my personal opinion on this, as it's not professional and not terribly important what I think.

BUT, thank you for making the extra effort to understand the predicament that the soldiers on the front often face.

Congrats on the promotion and if you're ever in the Bagram area let me know and I will take you out for some of Afghanistans premiere dining :)

Congrats on the promo, A Sergeant is where the ball meets the jack, the rough meets the road, the beginning of leadership and leaders are made not born.

Remember you are only as good as the men and women that you lead.

Take care and stay safe.
