The Shame of My Virtual Table

I don't have a lot of spare time, so I thought I'd start with some easy ones ;) The two larger ones are made by Richards, not bad actually, particularly the bigger of the two, quite nicely made. The smaller ones rarely have any form of stamp, but one of these has SOMETHING, I just can't read what it is! :D

Time to toss them in with my other 'Tinies' (Peanut and under) ;)

I do have a few others knocking about, including this one, shown next to a grain of rice

Got these two straight razors in the box. The razor boxes themselves are very collectible, but in this case, as often happens, the boxes, and the razors inside them, don't match.

There's a Puma razor in a Ragg box, and a Joseph Haywood razor in a Wade & Butcher box (think Boring Ray might have sold me that one ).

I particularly like Joseph Haywood's 'Kettle' mark :)

I remembered I had a Wade & Butcher razor in my razor box ;)

Hey, what's that Ink Eraser doing in this box?! Quite a nice one though I think ;)

The Wade & Butcher razor is old and heavy, with a baleen handle, but unfortunately it's too big for the box :(

Amazing.
Lol - I thought I would get some sort of reaction in daring Jack to count them.
I haven’t mine - for the very reasons stated 😂
I remember once I had a a couple of friends who are very close ask to see all my knives.
I kinda warned them - but I did, well their faces!!! and then the questions come ( and my Wife is in the room) like “ how much did this one cost..”
So I began telling them - “ oh I got that for a real good price - this one I got for $400 - and it’s worth….$…”

They said “ what NZ$ ? I said “ Oh no it’s always usually US $ ( so near double the price in NZ$ …
My Wife picks up on this and said “ how much did that cost ?”
I laughed and “ ok price discussion is off the discussion” then you see them trying to count the knives up so they can get some idea 🤣😂

At times I wonder just what am I doing and what am I going to do?

😮😅😂

So Jack will be in a much more worse position than me !!
Edit: predictive text taking over a bit in there!

LOL! :D I can empathise my friend! 😁

Like the tinies and straight razors. I really like the bigger Wade and Butcher straight razors.
Thanks David, I'll have to find an excuse to show my razors one day. I don't actively collect them, but I'll pick them up if they're in good shape, and the price is right ;)
A few years ago I was buying so many old tools and knives my mother asked me if I was going to start a museum? 🤣
You mean you used to buy MORE?! 😁😉 I definitely buy less than I was buying a few years back, mainly because I visit fewer markets and antique shops 👍

are those silver spoons mate?!
Good question Jack

Let's have a look! What's that, an assay mark? Such devices have certainly fooled plenty of punters, and more than a few market traders, but what are the letters? E. P. N. S. Taken together, that's Electroplated Nickel Silver, sadly :( Sorry mate

Sorry folks, I'd hoped to give another couple of those knives some attention this afternoon, but my day suddenly got busy :(

Like you I dont actively collect razors. But have got a few I've picked up here and there. Really like the Wade Butchers wedge razors.

Yes, I dont buy old tools like I once did. Sure havent slowed down on the knives. 😁

I have always loved Jacks Table discussions, If another War broke out and the carts came around again for all households metal to donate towards the war- all the neighbours would just stand outside and point to Jacks house - England's Metal problem solved immediately!

🤣

LOL! 🤣 They took the iron railings, from the wall at the bottom of my garden, in 1914. They can have the teaspoons, but they're not having my knives! 🤨🤣👍
